5-25-34 Campanula patula L. Coste II 499, Box 200 Bou# 286, § 767, SUII 658 Fl Villeneuve Water Tower walls. & fields 20.) Stones canal bridge or path de Beaupette → Plane. II, Bou# excellent. Fl with distinct violet tinge. Corolla 23-25 mm cut to middle below very spreading (lobes sometimes 4.) Stem at tip, with very marked ridges or the angles of these (at least near base) quite scabrous. Leaves almost glabrous. Calyx lobes slightly broadened at base and obscurely toothed (SUII). 7-16-34 Feet IV-M and 7-18-34 Villeneuve Marsh. Fl on slender long branched stems, seem to having been cut, Fls also much smaller than 5-24. 5-25-34 Symphytum x plaudicum Nyman (S. oceruleum Petitmengin, S. asperum × S. officinale) SUII 278. [For S. asperum Lepelchin SVII 2178, BMJCPG25, = S. asperissimum Donn § 683] Fls very young &. Villeneuve, wasteland at end of tramline. (cf. both S officinale.) Corolla a darker rich purple in bud, growing darker but def. purplish light red outside, approaching white inside near base of tube outside) in full fl. (Otherwise corolla seems exactly like S. Officinale 15 mm long, the short lobes recurved; scales 6 mm v not quite reaching to edge of corolla; anthers 3 mm.; filaments 2½ mm.) Calyx 5 mm long cut ⅔ of its length (i.e. a trifle shorter than S. Off—which is 6mm) Differs from S. Off in being darker purplish (S. Off light green) and being hispid with tubercle based hairs all over. (S. Off is comparatively glabrous on lobes but mid-nerve

8-5-34. Pedicularis Kernerii Dalla Torre (= P. rostrata L.) & T.=P. caprifolius Sieber=P. silectica Kerner) SVH 615 =P.rostrata L.Coste III 57; Bon 239 Fl. Engadina ident closely by SVH. Filred, long beaked; infloscot; Calyx not uniformly clothed with reddish long hairs (SVH) nor as stiffy as in Bon 992 still for P. asplenifolia; Corolla lower lip glabrous. St + infl 3-9cm overall. St ± prostrate, not in ascending st naked, but bracts rather leaf-like. St with 2 lines & short hairs (Bon). Calyx with similar slint, articulate, ± cusp'd, hairs esp on nerves (Plant not as nearly glabrous as Coste seems to indicate) Calyx fl ± 9mm long overall & stick ± 3 mmis of tip (Calyx larger in young yr.) Calyx not markedly narrowed at base. Corolla 2cm long. Upper lip dark rose; lower lip lighter on upper surface & still lighter on lower surface. Upper lip rather abruptly beaked (so that looks somewhat like a bird's head). Beaks 3-3½ mm. upper lip often tinted to one side. Flos 2-5. Pedicels 10 mm or less (the upper ones now in fl certainly no longer than calyx. The 2 longer filaments bearded on upper half. × Three spec (but 945) have a pair of opp. hairs very near the base 896 8-5-34 Saxifraga bryoides L.Coste III 131; Bon 115: S. aspera L. asp.bryoides Gaudin SVH 331. Fl.vadv. fl. Engadine. Very like ill (Coste) & (Bon). Calyx free. Petals white at tips, pale yellow at base with darker yellow dots in middle region, 7 x 3 mm, abruptly narrowed to short claw. Cutus orange yellow, not reaching to tips of petals (Coste Coste)

Calyx teeth minute (not as ill. Cate) F2. exactly as ill (Cate and 4) (not as ill BWH). Involucre. often but not always above one joint bracts primarly but like a ring if but the rest entire lanceolate or broader. Bracts involucrels entire, often ote-lanceolate and 3-nerved. F2. 15mm high. (Cate: BWH, SVKI all suggest bracts less entire than in this spec.) Petals tinged greenish in bud but the def. inflexed tip and the numerous bracts I involucre prove this not a Helosciadium. [7-25-34. PL Camalbridge Angle > Monney upper low very like ill (Cate)] 9-17-34 ??? Pseudodorum (Creoselinum March Cate II 177; Bon 127; SVKI 500. Flw young fr. PL Novilla -> Vourry. (Exhaustive search in all books from all points of view Meronobette guess but R. prey doubt fed). Rootstock thick woody, gnarled, the upper part ill defined (as R. suspects root-stock branched), solid (or at least not can- breel as in ill) Cicuta. Cate #1616), whitish inside outside, odorless. Upper and bears a few alreds? all bracts lobes and several stems. 1oz mostly at near base. 1 oz glabrous, dark green. Ill Cote #/516 is adequate but effect officinale's more distinct in design than the ill. Petiole vasculis rather slender & stiff, grooved on the inside and (3 days after collected) shows distinct tend- ancy to be 'flexueux-divarques et comme trisees' Lots of lf-segs tipped with oldish mucron, and edges sometimes (20x) show minute denticulate rough- ess (query whether enough to satisfy SVKI ?) lf. segs definitely on the 3rd order, cuneate at base, not like any of the others. Umb. brown by R.B.T. Stems glabrous. 5-10 in high.
