Fl with distinct violet tinge. Corolla 23-25 mm cut to middle below very spreading (lobes sometimes 4.) Stem at tip, with very marked ridges or the angles of these (at least near base) quite scabrous. Leaves almost glabrous. Calyx lobes slightly broadened at base and obscurely toothed (SUII). 7-16-34 Feet IV-M and 7-18-34 Villeneuve Marsh. Fl on slender long branched stems, seem to having been cut, Fls also much smaller than 5-24. 5-25-34 Symphytum x plaudicum Nyman (S. oceruleum Petitmengin, S. asperum × S. officinale) SUII 278. [For S. asperum Lepelchin SVII 2178, BMJCPG25, = S. asperissimum Donn § 683] Fls very young &. Villeneuve, wasteland at end of tramline. (cf. both S officinale.) Corolla a darker rich purple in bud, growing darker but def. purplish light red outside, approaching white inside near base of tube outside) in full fl. (Otherwise corolla seems exactly like S. Officinale 15 mm long, the short lobes recurved; scales 6 mm v not quite reaching to edge of corolla; anthers 3 mm.; filaments 2½ mm.) Calyx 5 mm long cut ⅔ of its length (i.e. a trifle shorter than S. Off—which is 6mm) Differs from S. Off in being darker purplish (S. Off light green) and being hispid with tubercle based hairs all over. (S. Off is comparatively glabrous on lobes but mid-nerve
