or 2-3 lobed as in ill. Petals white (or slightly tinged purplish); Stypelium vanthiers dark purple so that medal has a definite "pepper salt" effect. Very deeply ridged & may easily develope into fr. as ill (Coste). Calyx lobes small, triangular. (Coste says none). Telen as sure as pers at this stage. 8-5-34 Senecio incanus l. Coste II 305; Box 163; SVKI 695 Fl. Engadine Sts [2 specimens] as sent very like the part on left of ill (Coste). Stypeluncles definitely but not conspicuously white tomentose; two sometimes show only traces of tomentum. Achenes hairy only at summit (SVK). Two apex. long rays of a rich yellow but not orange. The other two [elder fls] are more nearly (but not strongly) gray. Swell broad, there are very gradually nar- nowed to base, so this may be asp. Carniolicus (SVKI = S. carnolicus Willd. Bon 387. Heads 7-8. diaml 5 x 3-4 mm, really tipped dark brown. Small tube bracts few or none, unconsipicuous. Rays 3-5; consid- erably longer than invol [Belotrie] Alpine Flora Plate 14 permits to be S. carnolicus Willd.] 8-5-34 Erigeron uniflorus l. Coste II 291; Box 161; SVKI 671 Fl, Engadine St. bracts frinvl, white fls all red. Rays pink. ide. Rays narrow (± 1/2 mm), only slightly spreading so that head has not a daisy like effect: invol wooly with navy, articulated hairs which are as long (n usually longer than the width of the bracts.
