= T. platyphylla Desp. Bge CP 482, St#92 20 II 711, SVI
I 447 Noff. Cult. Drage garden has exactly as illades
5/4 911 711 with the net nerves very distinct and
often practically parallel making neat little rect-
angular figures which are visible on or
upper side surface. If filmed at the same bright
green both sides & shining beneath (not gray
beneath as in [5-15-34]) young growth with spreading
propellairs. Youngest leaf softly pubescent all over
or both sides, the older ones less so above. Tuft of
hairs in axils of veins beneath not strikingly white
but more nearly white than in [5-15-34]. Largest lf
5 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches.
[This leaves no question that this surely wild T] 5-15-34
is T. cordata Mill. Its lvs are decidedly gray-green be-
eath contrasting with the upper surface. The net
nerves often indistinct & not at all prominent. Tufts
of hairs in axils of veins rusty (not strongly so) when
old with T. platyphyllus.]
Another Tilia (lvs col 5-24-34) Cult. Drage garden
may be T. intermedia DC. etc and does seem to fall
bet. T. plat. v.T. cord. this more nearly like T. cordata
young growth glabrous, lvs glabrous except for the very
