(4 289) is directly under the fl (not evident to eye
but withered flo fall off at that point). Style just
a little longer than stamens, with 3 very short
lobes. Veins in sepals more than 5. This with
length of segs prob rules out C. ceculeata Robinson.
lf. 17mm broad (with rounded heel) with many
fine parallel veins.
5-24-34 ? Crucianella stylosa Trin. BMG CP 916 =
Phacopsis Phacopsis - Benthian v Hooker
SV II 320 Fl. Droge. Garden. Plant looks exactly
like a Halium before flowering, and like an Cephala
(but 5-merous) in flower. St. angled (4 below, 6 above),
ridged with down-curved hairs on angles, sometimes
awn-like at base of internode. Leaves rounded (mostly in 8's)
at tips, lanceolate, fine pointed, ridged on edges
& mid-nerve beneath, 21x3mm, as long as internodes.
Fls in a compact, rounded head fully 6 inches
diam. Fls crimson-pink, fragrant. Tubers very slender
10 mm long. lobes 2mm. Style exserted 6mm of which
1+mm is the 2-lobed almost equal stigma. Stamens
sessile just below sinuses. Each fl provided with a
bract (in center) inf bracts are about 1/2 as long as
corolla but at outside of infl the bracts are longer
& more like little lvs) and in addition directly
under the ovary are 2 small bracts each subtending
what is either a bud or an abortive fl. Ovaries
