a better broader (not oblong) in appearance, not lobed, and the glabrous spot is not set forward of the center well from another spot (often found in O. Ber-) behind it. The gynosteme is less erect than in O. Ber- so that the "beak of the bird" comes nearer to the lip. Petals 6-9mm (usually about 7mm); sepals 12-15mm; hence petals always at least ½ as long as sepals. Lip seems entire except for the lower- generation apex (Cate says trilobed hidden till x 40). Spender green, ± tilted upward but never sharply inflated against lip. Retiniva at base usually evident but no more so than in O. aramfera (cer- tainly not strongly empalarged like "lines of bee" as in some Bplings and as I suspect they are in O. Arachnites & O. Scolopax) * N.B. Petals on other specimens are ± about hairy medjer (20x) on surface, but not (I should say) velvety. Cate merely says "not velouties". But this brings the identification into question. Markings at base (white in freshet flo.) suggesting gill. Cate. Beak varies from not quite as sharp as Cate Ill. of O. Bertoloni to about as obtuse blunt as Cate Ill. of O. Arachnites. *Note also that petals of O. aramifera have short fine hairs (20x)
