4-13-54 (Orchis provincialis Balbi, Cote III 401, Bon 311
SVKI 160) Fits desc in all respects (line, shape of fl and
spots on lf) except that all bracts are about the length
of every altio; the lower ones are sometimes longer.
The petals remaining "connivent"; the upper sepal
at length standing almost erect behind them.
Many specimens. This is just what Mus.T. called
O. pallens.
4-13-84 (Orchis Morio L., Cote III 399, Bon 311, BVH 459, SVKI
158). Fl deep purple v bracts tinged deep purplcs as well
Central lobe of lobe of lip lighter with deep purple dots.
Query whether this is var pictus & vG SVKI =
O. picta L oris Cote v Bon? Sepals 8mm long, Fl
12mm. from tip of sepals to lowest part of tip of lateral
lobe of lip. (SVKI says fls 6-8mm long ie ½ as large
as O. Morio.) Not so neat but those whole sheath
the upper part of the st. might be called mucronate
(Cote); perhaps this is what Bon means by
"bractes aigues". Fl is so deeply colored that the
green in the wings is visible only when held
up to the light.
*Prof. Bon means bracts of fls.
