Blade v sheaths glabrous (except blades slightly roughened medges and at base) Blades, cap on sterile shoots, a very few long stiff blade hairs on edges of Blade. Blades? sterile shoots about 1½ mm wide. St. live the same but now dried v setaceous. Inff 3cm long, slightly lobed at base but as the whole compact v spicate. If Infl. shining because scarious character of palea & glumes v lemma. Glume def. hairy (sometimes more so or keel) and lemma also hairy toward top. The two flo not always developed.
