894 8-8-34 Fls. One plant only in stone wall, rd hills -> Lestwants shortly north ? Doubt: Can this belong to the Violaceae? which either some of the characteristics? Root not collected from crack in wall. Plant consists of several simple, hanging sts. 10-20cm long, with all fls (looking at first glance like some un-named species) trailing (varica). If very like a Violet off in shape, ovate, cordate with a wide sinus, crenate with incurved teeth, slightly hairy on both sides (as is the grooved petiole and st.) Lva 2.5x2.5cm to 2x2 cm. Lower petioles 2-2.5cm; upper petioles 1cm. Stipules free, lanceolate, acuminate to sharply acute, the lower ones 5mm long, the upper ones 7mm long & denticulate. Fls solitary, axillary (in only a few of the branches but from base) at to tip) on pedicels 1/5-7mm long. Pedicels with 2 small linear-lanceolate, opp bracts about this middle. Fls tiny (the sepals in fls being 2mm long) Sepals, very fine with the same stiffed short hairs as at base etc. Sepals 5, linear-oblong, almost 1mm wide, rounded at apex and at the appendage (as on sepals of violet) at the base. Stamens 5; petals 5, larger than stamens. Stamens free & separate, with appendage about the anthers as in violet, opps sepals. Four of the petals are white, linear-oblong, 1/2 mm wide, the fifth is tinged bluish and broader (1mm wide). All about 1 1/2 mm long (n bas) & none is spurred. Ovary superior, globular.
