absolutely to base. The lateral fls connate to about 40 mm (the total length of lat. flt. 16-20mm). Calyx distinctly spreading after flowering (fl. not ripe) not "aufgerichtet". Fls oblong or ob lanceolate and tips rounded not "+ zugespitzt". Teeth at top ? left only and def "zweirennennreidend." (i.e. in 4-p cover).) tending in silky "finnel" hairs. But pedicels 2mm while fl (from all to tip of calyx) 3 mm. (This is only clear where points toll alfimal.) #8847 7-5-34 Efrigeon. Fl. Rochers de Naye. St. to Einligle, several from a thick root stock. Shifly erect or ridged 1 ft to top. I.o.s. at vinyl hairy v some (at least) of the hairs have enlarged bases but no glands of any sort found. Sts with 3-4 short branches (3 cm or much less) near top, each branch bearing 1 head. (In one spec., a too longer hand. from just below middle.) Flt. Heads 7-10 mm diam. at top invol. Filiform & flo many. Rays rose blac + elect (never really spreading as in #883). Rays over top of disk fls. by 3mm (rays 6 mm or slightly less long when disk fls newly opened are 3mm long). (In #885 rays exceed disk fls by 5 mm.) Rays narrower than in #885? (Rays about .4 mmn; in #885 rays about .75 mmn wide) Query? Can this be F. acriol. (Rays seem too long) F. Villarii Bell (no glands) [26] Perhaps one of the many forms of F. alpinus d. See SVII 337 1-26-34 Fl Rde N. fl with an unmistakable E. Villarii which is really glandular.
