Eff with Lychnis alba, with which freq. confused when collected). Plant same grayish green & general effct of L. alba but (1) hairs (explorer part of it) long, volagies (2) upper ln bracts oblong lanceolate (not ± fuste as in L.) (3) Calyx tube teeth longer. The 5 fls wth 3 styles make M. noctiflorum the only posin SOKI. Due to this differs from alba in in the longer ovaries with short carpels & L. alba frvate no carpelae) green Calyx inf is strongly 10-veined the veins which run tothe sinus being elegantly pennately branched (in L. alba no definite pinnate branching tho there are additional fainter nerves parallel to the others ) In adv. fs. Calyx tube is 2 cm, the teeth 8-10mm. 9-17-34 Crepis capillaris Wall. A 869; BYH 274. STAT 732 = C. virens L. Coxe II 445 = C. virens Vill Bon 190 Fls fs. Field Noille > Voutry. Root white, rather slender, fuscipen, bearing several or many slender, rather erect sts. There are no more than 10 in high (should be somewhat higher) but in all other respects plant is as desc. Effct of the small bead on slender bushy stems quite unlike any other Crepis seen to date.
