SVI/105. Unimp.fr. Villeneuve canal jetty. 10.5 cm wide inf. 11 cm high. very inf. paniculate with lower branches 4 cm long. Stigmas 2 (aside SVH, BVH/V Box. Costa says 3)
perigynia 3 1/2-4 mm ( tho' all books say 3 mm) found in
all spikes. In spikes where 5 flo found - at the top - often underdeveloped & flos found.

can see sheaths low and erect greenish & spikes
mark this out to the eye.

Good. Cost III 504, Box 333 (See C. stricta Lam V 2/31
which has many similar char but not indicated in
Das European) Fr. Villeneuve prob near canal elsewhere... As remembered as far as collected spcs show this is espiflora (but no positive prot) that it has no
runners. Basal sheaths shred into matted filaments.
This rules out #387 & 388 of SVI. Perigynia 3 1/4 mm, gray-green
and nerveless but nerv not distinct except when
perigynium opens & held up to light. Scales purple-black with green mid-nerve, somewhat shorter and
conspicuously narrower than perigynium.
5 spikes in umb sometimes a 2nd shorter spike.
5 spikes to 4 cm (much abort) the dark scales with
lighter rounded tips so neatly imbricate that the
spike now looks delicately fluted.
