lacking. Pedicels ± 1mm long &/2 times as long as posterior gland (SVH; B). Well good. 7-26-34 Phyteuma betonicifolium Vill. Cote II 490; Bon. 197; SVH 655 FL (in last stages) Rocks near Sage on slope from western ridge → Chal. Off with P. orbiculare L. and P. spicatum L. no doubt ident. acc. to SVH. A. St. stocky, 21-23cm to base of infl. Infl. 5-7½ cm. B. St. rather slender, 15-19cm to base of infl. Infl. 1½-7cm. This might be suspected P being P orbiculare but the infl is diff. cylindrical (not globose as in P. orb-) and the indiv. fls are as A (i.e. lvs. finer & shorter than in P. orb-). Lowest lvs definite cordate 3x2cm. (A has lowest lvs ± 4 times as long as wide, narrowed into petiole, truncate or very slightly cordate). Neither A nor B bear the conspicuous invol. bracts of P. orbiculare. Base just lower half just too fluffy for P. caprasium; various reasons against P. subgenu. selenis (SVH). 7-26-34 ???
