8-19-34 what seems to be underdeveloped lf-bd at
+ ½ in intervals from base. ½ at. Strkt tip root is
6 in long and much thickened at top. The interesting
item about the specimen is that the nut pulled
up easily with the root, attached to the plant &
seeming intact. When nut was opened the
“meat” looked fresh and edible. 2 lfts (2 under-
elvelop.) 5, thinner than on adult trees and coarsely
serrate (would not have been recognized a walnut
leaf.)

(See 8-31-33). This is the plant common around Alim
with corolla of varying size. Rodent(?) it being 3. Calamint,
scheelace to SVKI. And since hairs of calyx throat pro-
ject inward and not upward beyond the rim thus
it can not be ssp Nepeta Brig (see also SVKI 286 for
varieties). The possibilities of ssp silvatica and ssp
ascendens are very difficult to decide between.
R.B.T. thinks it probably ssp silvatica because
