7-8-34 branches of the spike-like inf. Toward the base
just the stamens? (sometimes they definitely) bare
and visible between groups of branches. The main
“tassel” often has several slender auxiliary tassels
near its base. Sepals oblate, sharply tipped and obtuse,
then the almost smooth fruit (SUTII says about as
long as the fr.). Bracts perhaps 1/2 again as long as
the sepals but not long enough to give the inf.
the prickly look of A. reflexus. Acc. to P.B.K.’s
memory 10-6-32; 10-13-32 and 7-18-34 (laps
10-6-32 and 7-18-34) had not the same effect on him.
Low green, much like leaf of A. reflexus but of
a clearer green, not crisped on edges, and
broadest nearer the base (somewhat?
effect)

“A.” St. not glabrous but decidedly less hairy than in A.
reflexus. Its rhomboid being widest shortly below

spot in center) above, sharper pointed than in A. ret-
and edges not crisped. Inf as ill (Coste) fr #3062 or
