six inches high. Roots coarsely fibrous, leaves all radical, 3-lobed, lateral lobes 2-3 cleft, terminate on 3-cleft + pinnatifid - divisions incisely once or twice ultimate cleft, segments narrow. Scales longer than the leaves, naked, 1-flowered. Stalks somewhat tubular, persistent, broad ovate or obicular, narrowed at base, 1/2 in Diameter. Petals even larger, with a narrow claw (1" long) + shallow nectary. Carpels membranaceous, obicular, connate below, minutely inflated compressed navicular, abruptly jointed with the persistent short round style, narrowly margined upon the ventral side, crowded in a large glabrous head. Seeds (1-1/4" long) attached to the ventral surface above the base.
