294. Vicia Americana, Muhl. (749. Fl. I. 269.) Foliage very variable, even on the same plant; lower leaflets usually much narrower than the upper; which vary from linear to ovate, or an acute, obtuse, or rarely truncate, always mucronate. The only climbing leguminous plant seen west of Utah, abundant in localities, & known as the "Peavine". Confined to the banks of creeks & springs. a) Oct. 2, 1867.
