Pisonia the dominant veg. The
NE section (windward) is a narrow
rock dike (40' wide) between sea &
lagoon.
Observed 3 species of butterfly
1 black w/ white spots (4), 2 small brown,
1 large dark brown w/ white wing bars.
& grasshoper, or a skunk. Skunks
are very common.
Village area - Palm, Pandanus,
Papaya & Burr grass. Some Boerhavia.
Marschminia, Schenola, Pisonia become
dominant as Palms end. Portulara,
Tubulos from understory coral rubble.
Saw several dragonflies.
Three separate areas where Gray-
barked Terns flying over coral
shelf oceanicule. Eggs found
in these areas at night. Saw
200+ birds coming day.
Noddly (both sp?) must remaina
common.
Counted 13 WT, 7 RT, 2 GP,
3 BTC, 4/8 Fairy Terns, 3 L. Frig.,
1 Phoenix Is. Titeret, 4/Lm Noddler,
50 Haw. Noddies.
Ocean side, on coral rubble,
5000 S. T., maybe 5000 more
in funnel over lagoon.
