1965 SIT#3 fantail. Landers at 1330 in early surf. Moved gear to house. Began next count around 5 end of island. Gray-backed Terns breeding, most w/ large nestlings. Brown B, BFB, RTTB w/ largest young. Observed 2 RTTB nesting in same nest: one 20 days, one 40 days: sitting side by side, facing opposite directions. Saw 7 BTC. Observed 18 to 20 turtle egg pits & tracks out of & into water in sand on E side of island. No eggs found. Took blood samples at Sibley in PM. 40 Sooty Terns, 20 BFBs. Worked BFB club for nest. Caught 2 birds we had painted on Phoenix. Small colony of Sooty Terns near edge of lagoon, no eggs yet. 31 May 65 Finished next count of island. G. Finq. on large N, some sm. N., a few eggs. RTB most on eggs, some small N. Lerner Finq on sm young w/eggs.
