showed passport to Dudley Cook,
paid bill, looked gear, to ship.
Up anchor and tender way at 1700.
Repacked gear, etc.
02 Jul 65 Fanning Island in sight
at 0530. Idan ashore at H 0730.
Stadel and I remained on
board to skin stuff and sort
gear.
03 Jul 65 Huber, Stadel, Hones & I
went ashore early. Sander &
Hone remained aboard all
night. We met Mr Palmer,
had a drink & went off
to pair's feet. We passed
on ocean pile on the far
side of the channel. Many
new species found, many
goatfish, small stuff
mostly lost in mud.
Huber back to ship at 1200.
Sander collected Cuckos, Stadel
& I crossed harbor in
rubber boat for bird specimens.
We got 1 Mr Nody. Saw several
Red-bay-Neddies & one Blue Gray
Neddy but couldn't collect.
