cw eggs, samples mostly Tainbules.
After supper, heavy rain. Dennis
+ I walked to N end of island
& found 2 Wedgetails, collected one.
First record of this species on Howland.
Dennis found 3 burrows yesterday.
Larry collected a Phormis Dr. Petref
yesterday which was also a bit weird.
RTTB just beginning to lay.
Counted 16+ eggs, 1 chick. Other
birds on ground in pairs in morning
& early afternoon.
Banded 500 S.T. nestlings
in evening (total) & got about 50.
Began packing camp.
22 May 65 Up at 0600. Broke camp-
packed gear. Off to ship at 0730;
Bottle moored Dolphin, (50) off island
& followed ship for several miles.
Moved gear to gun deck, began
cleaning, repacking, skimming.
Changed Baleses.
At 1300 crossed equator
& underwent transformation from
Pollywag to Shell back!!
