1965 SIC#8 RRJ 22 Other boat found fish, shot additional sperm, caught quahogs & skinks. Track to ship at 2000. Underway for Vostok. Skinned birds until 2400. 14 June 65 Skinned and put up birds all day. Packed gear for Vostok. 15 June 65 Sighted Vostok at 0800. Crew to fanfare. landed at 0930. Set up camp, began processing fish on me! Vostok is sm. Island; a triangle about 62yds. per side. Only two species of plants: Fisonia + Dserknea. Fisonia forms complete canopy about 60 high. No understory present. Ground composed of humus (black), several feet deep & very soft. Later, large open area in the interior probably caused by salt water from waves settling in low spots & killing trees. Later, ring around Fisonia
