Bermuda 1-20-29 Panicum maximum, freq. p. 17. Frequent en route to Elbow Beach. Nodes (of young growth) & ligules hairy. 3rd leaf sometimes bearing of flowers dense. Gunner Glass, F2. x 1-20-29 Panicum dichotomiflorum, freq. p. 17. En route to Elbow Beach. Anthers beauti- fully orange. (2) Young, upright, delicate. 12½" (seems to be short from base of old stem) (4) Old. 3¾ ft. decumbent, lower ⅓ naked, surface third near the tip bushy branched. ligule hairy. Corolla fallen. & matly no seed set. Calyx in some cases has tube 1/4-1in long with lobes 3/4 in long but mostly calyx tube shorter so less than 1/4 in Fr dry capsule, oblong to 1/2 in long. 2 celled. Seeds 12 (more case) or curved processes, flat, the urripe seeds encrude microscopica so that threads "adhere to dissecting needles.

Belongs Oeanthaceae Capsule suggests but unidentified with Ruellia LemD. 607. A dried corolla (at first thought to be withered in bud, but since stamens seen normal perhaps fully developed) Tubular 5mm long brownish, with well marked lobes, less than 1mm deep. Stamens 4, filaments slender than anthers attached above middle tube... Outer sacs run longitudinally connecting to delicate longitudinal not at all like Justicia secunda. 7 in x 3 1/2 in one petiole (but lower leaves larger) Corolla above ovary of 5 filiform, sheaths white, with 6 hairs. Inflorescence about 1-flgld. Flo solitary on pedicels 4-7 in. with small leaf bracts on peduncle & pedicels. Involute bracts rate 2 or 3 series. Receptacle pyramidal, pitted, chaffy. Calydris remains of flo heads left with no flo or developed stamens. Andro and stamens are pubescent, pappus consists of crown of scales with awns. 1-24-29 Badx & Wood Haven, shrub ? to 5 ft. & rose pp. (in one case) 9/8 x 4 3/4 in. Petals in 2 forts to oval rounded & current at base, sheeply valently acuminate at apex almost entire, dark s? green above, light below (with each dot 20x) beneath, glab- rous except for very abfist pubescence or veins beneath. Flowering raceme 4-5 in long each fl. with pedicel & 1/4 in subtended by very small bracts. Calyx very small red with 5 acute lobes, no more than 3/8 in overall. Corolla bright red, slender tube 1 in long enlarging somewhat above middle, limbs 2 medium, 2 flutes about & 3/8 in deep, the upper being narrower shallowly divided than the other 3 which are equal. Stamens 2, included, one with very short filaments inserted on upper part of tube anteriorly with two staminodes posteriorly (in several fls. three stamodes were well devel- ped stamen & but one in anthecisac only). Style slender about as long as tube. Ovary part superior but difficult to see at this stage. Inside of Corolla glandular paposeccat (stalked glands) giving crystal-line effect. Color shape of ft individed fl (except for narrow under Corolla tube) much like fls. Rusellia equisetifolia Could this be B.M. Hairs and removed printing hrs 1/2 x 1/4 in. not sharp at apex & usually cordate at base. Firme, shining above, hairs on veins beneath seen only. White 3/8-7/8in. pubesulent. Flore raceme. Let # be cross section of peduncle. Lowerst fl is not on side 1 with the pedicle suffluded by 3 tiny bracts v one similar bract on side 3. The next fl is but 1/4in high on side 2 at this suffluded by 3 bracts on each opposite. The next fl is on side 1 again the next on side 2 all bent so as to give a generally one-sided effect. Drifts, sometimes compounded at tip by having a flowering stem issue from the axil of the single bract of p.a.fl. Corolla glandular pubescent on outside Tube 1in long enlarged toward throat, narrow? slightly angled on top at bottom there! Cross section of peduncle shows the two upper stifle larger than flower

Ovary paricular pubescent, 2 celled, rule 2 in each cell on axile placenta seem to be borne on little lobes as in Diantheaceae.-Ovary musclog- nexus to needles. 3-9-29 Fr. St. Georges Public Garden. 14 with fewer larger lfts than above. grows free quite diff. effect. 3-5-29 Praxia paniculata, Roxt. see BMJCP 614. House at west end of Causeway (per same as 3-24-27 P.O. Boyd East.) sml 14 long fine paniculate spray. Fls with lobd v only few raceb left. Corolla seems to be funnel form about 5mm long. Stamens 5 with anthers readily sessile near base of corolla. Calyx 2mm. depth & slit is about 1mm deep. Superior to calyx is spherical ovary divided lower half is tubed v seems persistent while upper half (as seed matures) is thin v [partially] circumsessile. Ellvary seems 1-celled (no sign of partition) with 4 orange-seeds shaped seeds attached at base. Style very short, atigma 2 lobd. Corolla in withered condition is very dark colored. Sits on ovary at line between lower v upper half. Capsule not hairy. 1-31-29 "Thunax Weedslandica" Thetel. Palm" as per label. St. Georges Public Garden. Fan lfts with segments cut alt. deep v 1-2 in less deep. Petioles with upeward pointing spines. St. scruffy. Fls among bd. St at root 4½ ft high. L 602 ft diam. Not by this name in Batters BMJCP.

"Latania glaucophylla" as per label Palm. St. Georges Public Garden. Fan lvs 3 ft diam, glaucous green with veins showing plainly as fine yellowish lines. Midrib below & petiole (leaf in younger lvs) strongly scaly as this disease. "Washingtonia robusta" as per label. Public Garden St. Georges. In middle involucres ¾ in wide (5 reddish glands v many o the spinulated sides (rose & y parts) and at each side a bud unopened v green which seems to contain a ? as well as 5 fls. 3-2-29 X #178 St. Georges Public Garden 20 west corner. Bush left with curly bark in ridges "from firm in Florida" says Mr. Swanson. Fr. Twigs densely covered with rust, from hair variety. Ld alt. growing larger branch end of twig to 4in x 1/3pin. Blossoms late, apoclyrous, base narrowed. Petals 2-3 mm v hairy liberation of thin but fine glabrosa, somewhat repand. Fr in umbellopsa lf. Peduncle in pedicels 1/4 pin. Fil like dark colored berries 1/4 in diam (13 in umbell in one case counted) When cut along no seed n seed husk. nse. No sign of calyx at stem end & only faintest suggestion at other end. The white-yellowed skin can be removed leaving inside with indented mark around middle (this mark seems to indicate no division into lobes further in) This whit-yellow exter on removal falls yellow fibres not inside which had extended from circumference towards centre. leaving a white anomalous pock- like centre divided somewhat by re- moral of fibers. 3-2-29 "Eriodendron anfractuosum" as per label. St. Georges Public Garden Trimm'd close to top 20 ft. Twigs varies greatly in diam bulging & contracting. Bark smooth grayish brown (color of Oberonite Fitch 1928 suit) broken in vertical lines showing green with light green at tips in centre. S.P.N. Miss James garden plants from Miss Hunter where seen 4— '27. Loral to 3½ x 1½ in. 3 nerved, rounded at base acute apex, entire but somewhat undulate. Dulling dark green above, very white woolly below. Petiole in. Starlets tomentosa except in inflorescence where it is viscid v stellate to bristles. Infl. 6in. long wth fl. whorls widely spaced 1½-2½ in. Corolla 1 in very dark haelo- purple. Style purple, emarginated, 2 stamens purple about length of corolla. Stary pubescence marked, & the longer interspersal hairs are yellow. Inflos peniculate, the lower branches in axils lvs (now fallen). Bracts 2-3 in. Capsule almost spherical 1/2 in high by a trifle wider. Remains at base of (2) bract involute? v (b) gamosepalous cauld calyx. Seed 3 1/2 mm long, funiculus remains attached to seed & can be separated from it. Cot Each cell 7-12 seeded with sugar remains & note maturing ovules. Capsules loculicidally & deliquescent the above at the same time falling away from a short central axis (about 1/3 length of capsule) so that they remain attached only at base & often fall. 2-15-29 from same plants as 2-26-27 Fr. Tube 2 1/4 in, less than 1/8 in at base, soon curving an up. larging to 5/8 in. L imb 2 1/4 in across with 5 almost equal lobes about 3/8 deep x 7/8 in wide. Stamens included 4 fertile with 1 short staminole serted above or tube where it begins to enlarge, fr fragrant ? Fertile 1/2 in overall, seated in purple stalk, stigma two lobed, divided. Ovary linear, purplish, & looks like base of style merely. Perhaps 1 celled but can't be sure (20x x 38x) Ordio many. More likely 2 celled with trules or partitions wall. Lvs (20x x 38x) show white scaly effect Ovary seems to have same white resinous deposit on outside & the style to show some scales. 3-21-29 This plant labeled Chrysostoma Cabellegides. Entirely undulate, veins pinnate, few anastomosing. Flo thus articulated 3 x 1, 6-8" with evidences of bases of bracts. Pedicel thickened toward top. Sepals bronze green, lacking convex bladderid, with a winged edge extending flatly onto corolla. Calyx 1/2 in less deep. Corolla tubular regular 3 in long, with 5 ovals lanceolate lobes 7/8 in deep. Bright scarlet. Stamens 5-equal length-attached at base of tube. filament hairy with densely hairsy ring at base. Stamens long enough to anther to reach to base of corolla lobe. Style one (stigma not on specimen) vary seated in disk. 2 celled with 2 ovules basally attached in each cell. Ovaries twice as long as how lateral v pars papillose maybe. * 3-21-29 plant labeled Clypistoma callistegioides. Outside of corolla glutinous in bed (which to fingers a studied certification indicate). Ovary seems 1-celled with parietal placenta, one lid opened showed stigma, 4 lobes. 1 staminode, 3 normal stamens, 1 stamen with 1/2 pollen cells, 2 stamens (evidently 1 filament splitting just above base) with 1/2 another parted cell.

"Callistemon lanceolatus" D.C. (as pulcat) Agri. St. Remains eluded fr. Fr on naked part & liguleicle bear for 1/2 in.
