2-15-29 Agri Dat. on trellis to east cor of Offices. Fl. Luxuriant vine. PrrB. Dipsacaceae. Lf. opp. 2 parted sometimes with simple fendul bet. Each lft oblate or fastivule 3/8 in. Lft 2 1/2 x 1 1/2 in entire apex rounded (with very point of bare lip), base narrowed, flatvome, shining. Petioles 5/8 in. Fls terminal 2 or 3 at a joining bet two thus: Pedicel to 3/4 in. Calyx 3/8 in, antulae narrowly at top (urn shaped ?) with 5 shallow teeth (perhaps 3 more definite two others so that part of rim looks as merely eras) sometimes a split a little way down bet two) the teeth. Calyx wall firm vitriculous. Corolla rose purple with inside of tube white except its front where it is striped white & self color. Tube 2 1/4 in, less than 1/8 in at base, soon curving an up. larging to 5/8 in. L imb 2 1/4 in across with 5 almost equal lobes about 3/8 deep x 7/8 in wide. Stamens included 4 fertile with 1 short staminole serted above or tube where it begins to enlarge, fr fragrant ? Fertile 1/2 in overall, seated in purple stalk, stigma two lobed, divided. Ovary linear, purplish, & looks like base of style merely. Perhaps 1 celled but can't be sure (20x x 38x) Ordio many. More likely 2 celled with trules or partitions wall. Lvs (20x x 38x) show white scaly effect Ovary seems to have same white resinous deposit on outside & the style to show some scales. 3-21-29 This plant labeled Chrysostoma Cabellegides.
