leaves larger) Corolla above ovary
of 5 filiform, sheaths white,
with 6 hairs. Inflorescence about
1-flgld. Flo solitary on pedicels 4-7
in. with small leaf bracts on
peduncle & pedicels. Involute
bracts rate 2 or 3 series. Receptacle
pyramidal, pitted, chaffy. Calydris
remains of flo heads left with no flo
or developed stamens. Andro and
stamens are pubescent, pappus consists
of crown of scales with awns.
X seed prepared.
