Involute 1/4 in wide, actaceous. Ligule arising from lower edges of florets. Florets 8 by clumps, dim. Daisy. Mass tufted, very dry & dry at base with remains of old sheaths. Spikes to 4 in long. Inflo 4 in. Spiclets on pedicels almost 1/2 in long. Crowded with purpled whitish hairs (some very stiffly plumose) so that so that the parts & infls are 1/4-1/2 in long. Spiclets always with 1 perfect fl. and other from base of floret, one short pedicel springing spiclet with 1 stfl. Deales purple. April 1929 compound 4-11-29 P. Ruppelli studl from Southlands. Only 3 seafoms below spikes. Ligules ciliate but not motion in long.
