In sec 17, N cnt T22N, R.77W. has U shaped worm? tubes 11 bedding. Below this section roughly platy bed 15+ silt/sh, platy fossil if st platy SS massive at bzs, 7-7+ 12t gray sh, interbed, platy 0.8+ brown weath platy x lum worm tracked 5.+ red sandy gml, soft clay SS massive x lum 25+t greenish grzy clayey ss of silt +sandy clstn.

Como #3 Approx measurement of qtzite & soft white ss, = 27' Then 10.5' of variegated sandy clay & ss, bottom 3' reddish ss clayey, then chiefly, greyish clay green that silky top it's grey white with yellow to red striin. Above this about 1' black sandy & thin beds silts woom track then purple brown ferrousaceous layer, its calc may be concretionary. Compare this with Como #4 p.30, which is further north where road crosses bluff

Como #4 - Sunday morning where road crosses N end of bluff in S1/2 sec 12, T 22N, R. 77W Thick Lytle-like SS N of road measured starting on most prominent pinnacle. From sandy yellow wash at base ledge E. 48.0 Sandstone, massive, X-low, weathrs light gray, is conglomeratic, chiefly in lower 20', some coxuse zones above. Chtagzt, is typical "Lytle". Itzs Fe-stained upper surface. D. 1.0+ Claystone, light greenish gray salty c 4.7 Sandstone, fine grained, gray-white, in beds up to 1.0+ with at least one greenish gray claystone perting 1.0 from base. SS weathrs yellowish to gray white. This unit 30

has FeOB worth cap, irreg wormy markings B 14+ Partially obscured, atole over light-colored veccrcted claystone, chiefly greenish gray with some yellow stain in lower part, upper part has some pink beds, including some thin foreign pink worth ss. A- up to 3.4 Zone of chertified ss. This may be concentrationary and lie within the vcr clstn or be continuous layer from 1 to 4' thick. Offset near road N side hand leveling up. From top of massive lytle to discount, is 37 feet, lower 20 is similar to unit C above, with minor pouts vcr clstn. Then a 17' zone of vcr clstn, chiefly bright green but varies greatly laterally. This capped by purple bry worth foreign to cylte ss which varies from 0.2 to 2.0 thick, is locally coursely cyltic & also may have 31

no cql, whatsoevr. It is in soft zone below this layer that big chert lenses come in laterally at cliff positions, locally 5 of road there are 2, some come right under discont. Float of gray well rounded chert pebbles + some chert 'gastrolith'-like pebbles. These seem to locate sparsingly below the purple brown layer in upper part of claysone. Locally the basal cql has rounded chert pebbles up to 4.0 diam but not as smooth as 'gastrolith- like pebbles. Purple brown layer commonly with broad ripple marks + weatherzls, cql is mostly in pockets & patches. Locally weathers move tzn thru Pbrown znd above it blush with tzn weath layers similarss. Near road, N side, no qtzlite cones, instead some lenses calc ss in upper 17'. Ditch crop N side road shows contact,

disconf Altcmztn. Black shale + dou medgr-co205css platy worm to zched. Red Fe stzu red SS, med-cylte 12um. Green clstn To east long slope, terminated N. of road by low subsidiary ridge of massive X len SS- with rip marked channel bottoms, Mey be Muddy.

North of Rock River, Wyo, bluffs of Rock Creek in NE 1/4 Sec. 28 T. 22N R. 75W. Top of Thermop. into Mowry starting at thick bentonite. 12. 2.0 - ? None seen in place, but it is exactly same position as at Como Bluff. Resume on the Cloverly seen at type 2nd at Thermopolis. Rusty beds + Greybull obviously are Fall River equivalent. The Rusty beds and Greybull are not separable, because Greybull = local ledge-forming sands in lower part, locally may be all of Rusty zone - viz {rusty} {rusty} {greybull} Disconformity sharp at type Cloverly, not so in Thermopolis road cut where seems to be set up similar to Lee's Bellevue locality with SS + IB var clstu at base. Type Cloverly is in claystone phase. Darton prob. included no Greybull or Rusty in original Cloverly but changed it subsequently - check this against his def. Thermopolis. At type Cloverly little or no Greybull except the local lens, and fairly persistent basal SS 62

above disconformity. Morrison contact fairly well-defined 2" type Cloucrly by presence of chert pebble (dom, gray + black) cql. Although this locally pinches out, Below this cql section varies, may be due to 12th change or depth incision. At loc #2 bed below are gray clsty + grade into red clstn below, but just across badlands st on hill due west small butte at #2 the cql rests on [red] clstus with typical Morrison limestone. This appears here to be a lateral gradation. Be on lookout for possible relation between type of beds in upper Morrison + nature of overlying Cloucrly SS. Here thicker SS but not as coarsely or much cql over gray Morrison but thin coarse cql over red. May be local only but at Theramop, #1+"2 under thick coarse Cloucrly is black clsty with plants (yczcl leaves) at to Morrison. And in Black hills similar setup locally. 63
