Near the face of the Crislang Mr Lordge collected abundantly platycerus and Spiripr arrectus, Also Annelonatus and Pinnularia cumbulandia, Eaterca like th Loh me. S. arenous grows through. Tritonia come from near the top, The just majority of prints come from the low third, however other sand prints seem higher.

Limestone Pool, Rose Hill B.O main lim. Touch the Potomac R. Here are shown no less than 175 feet of Tintaculite limestone. Have a few fossils. Tentaculites, Ostracoda and a smuss Cheristella. Also a Petgric near Gibron. Mostly these are in the upper thus although the Cheristella goes through. The Tentaculite is rare here and now found only in one bed about one third from the HP. This section shows with the top are the bottom. The thickness of the entire L. fd. could not be be made out but it can hardly be less than 1000 feet. L.fd. Lower are the N.J. horizons and the trisely gone I Port Jersey but not the Lower Potomac. This horizon does not appear to come to the

"surface here. But 15 miles away in Jordan came many Peruvian specimens associated with Atyps reticulatus. Corals are also abundant here."

Cumberland section for comparison. Sep. 25-1900. Owels Boettner, Marcellus shale Christany Top not seen. Broder says shows an uneven surface, with much creasing. Dark blue, arenaceous, heavy-fisted li., lowest, abounding about S. are- nous, S. anietus, Stephendonta magnifica, and Stipharing pygmaeus. Below in I. inter- media and Chonetophia con- planata. April 150ft. Kingsford Christany 126' Dark blue, arenaceous li. with chert grains. Heavy beds above passing into thin beds. Mr. Frost sees New Scotland and Beecraft. Thin bedded, sandy li., and shale with chert. At top shales with A. Hobel

about 75' {lets then a thin zone of Haeckeli, followed by the Tailbite bed and macrophleura bed (3), Railroad "watch box" ken. Creymans limestone (Low Point). {Heavy foddled li. with chert. About 6' full, Does Sygidula occur here? (4) Had it best to consider a part of the New Zealand beds?} {Heavy and thin foddyl Huist to yellkish li. with chert goes. A well developed Strometipora zone at the tip and bottom. Has b. galeata corals and crinoids. Freder thinks the Sygidula occurs almost entirely here near the base. The shells are small.} Transition. {160' (2) Balatus bed. Thin foddyl Huist li. with zone of chert. Bryzon atundant. Shall variety of

Hybridula and Favovita bred. Oranuxemi red. Former members of the above, has L. alta, brio from dubia and D. oranuxemi Here also were found the Ital- site and Calymene. One from Cocke's Valley near Clarks Distillery the other between Williams road and Baltimore Pike near Folcks Mills. In the former valley it is found with S. galeatus. Marliina lenistoma Rosebier 175'. Case not seen.

Sep.-27-1900 Arrived at Cumberland last night and came stopping with Mr. R. H. Sorden. Spent the day at the Devils Back Cone section. We first collected back of the R.R. match box and I soon learned that most of the lower roll here up the hill side has fallen down from the cliff to the right (or east). In this debris I found several large and typical Pentamerus and then from picking the eastern 1 Sep. section, Selective sorting began a doubt that the limestone ridges below (east) are all of the Lower Pentamerus. Going up the hill near the top about two feet of the limestone (higher or section) we saw on the face came several Orthos Matu. Spinifer macrophluma, L. rhomboidalis Strephonella punctulifera and Orthotheca amphorhana n.gadiota. This assemblage points unmistakably to the Delthyra (one to fifth page.)

Generally thin bedded chalky Li, inter shaly above and films with a heavy bedded lime (6") a little above centre. These are the big grom beds and short lips separated close from here. Upper heavy bedded CHGY li. 20 Middle on thin bedded shaly li. 35' One Colmar removes (?) starting from here Five Lemicriscinium kobe and the Ten. Stopp a natural axis. Lorme 15 feet heavy bedded dark blue chalky li. Some faintly shale here P. formosa bed, 6" Upper 38 feet heavy bedded dark lime limestone! Lower 33 feet thin bedded dark grey chalky li. = phytom C. greesmann alta (lm.) All together, large Lepidition, and small Peristella here. Talus slope. Contact with Tondl may probably be here.

As the top layer arenaceous li, with fossils. About 60 feet. 240' Then about 100 feet of dark blue very hard almost cherty limstone gradually becoming more arenaceous towards the top. Almost no fossils. Thick beds ( Hunt block) cherts. Circular 75 feet ( include 6' fels) of at about base 2, flatella? 30 J- 280 J8 - 74 Qno Mary 240' 270 Bucuthyn. z.p. 6 0 3 6.2' ?z m linpton? Blacklist the bedde irregular layer thif Li, L. flatula?? The manofluma chert li. can be seen for 10 feet the other 42 feet around. Is this the end of the Lower shelderby? Very chert macellauga hits seen for ten feet D. macrplena, D. pellucida are D. moorwithays very common at this point. 10 feet onto D. galeatus Q. arcanatidogus, St. annuitata, P. flota A. imedia, theristales clarity cycloste di chert brotalis

shale. These beds measure 52 feet formed by a six foot zone of Hacklied them and irregular reddish flint limestone. Here I found Lep. Flotellus and in none of the collections have I seen the Leptellus on the large Pissolania which leads one to believe that are of the Kingston where about at the Oriskany (the Hacklied and are above I now refer as Oriskany) appears directly on the Delthys shale. I believe the P.P. watch beds all seem to be one continuous series. The highest beds remind much of New York in the typical Pissolania, Farro's helen hyus and abundance of Stromatopora. The entire series is unbroken and 161"5" from the top is a thick zone made up for a few inches of small shells like Pentamerus galeatus. Just above these

shoes bygone are my standard and it is here that Afflancystilus is also founds seventy two feet below the dean with the same P. folictus in agone with an abundance of Rhynchonura formosa, Since this is a typical Low Heldup species all above must go into the Low Pentamurus. Below the R. formosa tid the section continues in 70 feet and in appearance are not differ for the two above. Certain it that no one has long found any Tintgable finds. Therefore the bottom of the Low Pentamurus is not repord here. Behave there, at the Revils Back line 305 feet of Low Pentamurus 72 " " Helthys shaly 246 " " Crickany. 603 " " expred hts in D.B.B.

Sep. 28-1900 Rainy. Spent the morning in boulden collections picking out the best Linnæa Seldernby and Oriskany fossils which he is donating to the National Museum to further the paleontology of the Cumberland Coeks. In the afternoon collected in the Lower Shale district at Cask Valley. Here the section begins a little above the Rhynchonella forma bed and it was upward through the second strata from bed. Above this the beds are crook but further above is an extreme upform of deep sand dirty limestone which in more other than the Heck flint limestone of the Lower Oriskany. I peered off these various gyps and found the thickness of the beds like about as at Lewis Rock Bore.

Collected a number of mosses from the second Shrubbery, Christmas while I was at work. Hardly picked up a single stone of the little Rhynchonella, like those on the Tintaculta grove at Keyser. No moss seen in the deepened clay grove.

Any thin bedded shale changed and Diacaenite Blue limestone gravel and agate- bedded in layers from 2 to 12 inches turns light-red but the lower half splits out in one-sided fashion. About sixty limestone, heavy boulders in cliff but weather into the bedded lagers. Considerable chert towards the top when the sands occur. here of Lohrbridge, Diacaenite and sandstone formations. Sandstone on the lower part sometimes a speckled area. Sandstone off this shale to < from 1 mile long. about cliff limestone. This hides sharpening away fine line that of Oaklady. 100ft. = 9x feet. 70 ft per room and 6-9/10's of about the average size of room.

Sept. 29-1910 Spent the day until 2 P.M. with John Hartley and Purdue at the tallest quarry of the C.&O.R.R. near Rye. I was just surprised to find here a well developed Tryptoculus gigaceus one spelled up in the lower Pentamere. There can be no mistello here since the Cystides are specific retrostriae goes are below it. Further no Lep. alta recur here but true Z. lds brechidipods. The Pentameres gone seems to be the lower one although Mr. Purdue says he collected quite large specimens here. In the Cystid bed which is more shale the limestone, there species are found a small lips one, the glabra and the flat species.

Sep. 29-1900. along the Catherine road from Ryan's Apartments Judge Alline's house the crystal bed is exposed, Sep atmt 70° and it is about 160 yards across to the [illegible] teds having the little near Rhynchonella. About 40 feet lower on bed and Sep. alta an Tintaculite gypsum. Below these are other Oratulum beds. About 3½ feet above the beds with the new little Rhynchonella is a zone of least ten feet their once filled with the little Orystella. In the Crystal bed Mr. Judge Alline's house lately found 7 specimens and one.

Sep. 30 - 1900 Dr Muller's quarry there is a faced Tentaclitic limestone of about 75 feet. Near the top occurs Tentaculites gygeanthus and Byrichia. These beds are formed in cement. Below the cement a Tentaculite li. is shown at least 30 feet if thinner beds suppresed the 'Batulina'. Over a little valley more Batulina is shown. The dip here about 35°. The distance is about 258.3 ft = 150 yards. You fully three hundred gards farther to the red Pelina. = 737 ft. From Muller's quarry (top) to top of here there is at least 300 feet where the Orsley Black li. has a chert. The dip here is fast, about 35° and the here exceeds also about 487 ft = The Trihamsian come in about 30 feet below the top of the 'Batulina' here. Tentaculites Byrichia li. m. dubia gne. Orsley chert.

Visit the morning lottery on Shantley and Perdew collections. Pick out some of the better finds as a donation to the high school museum.

Oct. 1 -- 1900 Made the section on the following two page in the morning. Gathered five prints from the Platamung beds which also have the Onusta. The latter also goes up into the Brygza bed. In the afternoon packed my prints to be ready to leave on the 6 P.M. train.

June 12-1901 Wednesday Left Washington on the 10:00 G.M. train for Cumberland. Arrived at 2:50. Talked shop with Lorden and started by the balance of the day. June 13- Thursday. Spent the entire day at Pinto, 10 miles D. & A. on the D. & C. R. R. From the station went around to the Armidalects road in upland a very complete section beginning in the Clinton and terminating with the gated bed. I had a copy of Powers section and on it I have made alterations and re- marks to adjust his work. In this section it will be best to begin the valuation with the first inter.

duction of the large Lepiditina, or milk bed ovisto. For the present I think bed may well terminate the Salina. The Tentaeculite formation over in- clude beds 3 and 2. Bed 1 goes ascending my old interpre- tation into the Lower Pentamerus. Brown estimate of 95 feet thick in the beds from the Tentaeculite up to the cystoid bed. Just before coming to the shelly cystoid gone there is a bed with Favosites and Cladifera. The latter in great abundance. In the cystoid gone here are picked up several of the characteristic brachiopods. The Lower Pentamerus gone should come in just beneath the cystoid gone but was not able to find it in close association with this gone. However Mr Darby found the bed on the hill lost of the Amicolster road in the

crocks. I think it is in the paper place just beneath the cystid zone but could not positively determine this. The general thickness appear as follows: Clark Mills beds from Tentaculite li up To cystid zone. 95'. Tentaculite beds. 388'. Baterium n Salina. 704. Niagara 340 1527 To this must be added. Beds above cystid zone at D. B. B. 146 Macrpleura beds. 5-2 1725'/ft. 246'. Christany D. B. B.

June 14-1901 Friday. Drill started out for the Devils Back Bone. After one were there about an hour it began to rain and left it off for the day. I first corrected my section and then collected prints marking them according to the group. Just as I was leaving, Dr. C. Camas arrived. Startley called my attention to bed 14 with its eroded layer of 5 feet thickness. It is apparently this bed (14) that is the equivalent of the Logan cycloid one and not bed 12 as formerly supposed. It may also have been the lower cycloid one seen yesterday at Pinto on the Brincharte road. Startley will allow me to pick out the desired material out of his collection.

"and purchase it in his entire collection. Or almost any other desirable item, June 15 - 1901 Saturday. Keyser, W. Va. Left Cumberland at 7:45 on the 21st train for Keyser. Set off at the former place and collected a few fossils and after the section. The railroad went about 1 mile to the Keyser quarry. In the Keyser quarry had great success. Found quite a lot of fossils and purchased some of the labeling ones. Rained a little all morning but again on our way to Cumberland,

June 16 Sunday Cumberland. Rained all day. Spent the morning adjusting Perdue's Collection. Spent the afternoon and evening with Kerdm and Hartley. June 17th Monday. Rained in the morning. Spent Perdue collection. Spent the afternoon at Cast Valley with Hartley. The Pentamurus occurs on the Cast Valley in two gorges, one beneath the upper castle but at the other in the centre of it. About all that is exposed now is for a little downwards below the Pentamurus led into the second Chasm from but, Collected a few Lower Orithmy fossils for the Greenpool Creek shot.

June 18 - 1901 Tuesday Hagelman There are 2 quarries back of Hagelman. The section is about as follows: [illegible] Bed 2 has Calymene R. formosa Phyechmella Orthothets 2 species Cimicid ? Nodular li. About 50 ft. Quarry has Rare Favreite. This bedder li and shale, about 30 ft. contains gen est. of red 3 to 4 strata against same (brantly? fut) see specimen quarry. 33 ft. [illegible] [illegible] Dense Solatious against arms breaks through 18 ft / A beds. See specimen. Surface Stramatopora 90 ft Stramatopora against bed once and thus that quarry. Orthmatopora beds and arable Quarry See str. red J P.B.B. 24 [illegible] See the specimen of branching stramatoparads.

"This section brings out prominently the fact i.e. that there is another stratiforme line just above the lowest cystid zone in the Middle Marlus. Harkly says a similar bed occurs at the D.B.B. only less prominently. Another point is that the crusty bed of the D.B.B. (=Lower Marlius) is decidedly a shelly limestone bed and more prominent than the one above the Pentamys beds at D.B.B (=Mid. Marlus) The large Lepiditae must have come from some other although found in the dust of the cystid bed. Spent the afternoon in the Corijana mill quarry. It is in the last of the Upper Pentamerus beds and up into the Macro- pleura beds.

June 9-1901 Wednesday Megan. Camaraeum occurs in a zone about 5 to 6 feet thick just beneath the Pentamerus bed. With the Camaraeum and below for 20 feet in the greatest abundance of Spirifera modestus. One cystoid was found in the Camaraeum but occurs far below due Spirifera retrostata. P. campbelliana also occurs with the cystids up above my table. The by campbelliana from my form tray occurs below in bed 17. See the Pentamerus collected by Hartley 40 feet below S. octocostatus. The dumps show that the second floor metform bed to be typically devoid of it although the chonetiforms are scarce, on the dumps. Seemed a just bit of fossils.

June 20 - Thursday Cumberland. Packed five boxes today at Soda Hartley and Perdue's homes. My man met me in the late afternoon. June 21 Friday Cumberland - Washington Left Cumberland on this 7:55 train and got off at Cherry Run. Cherry Run, Jt. Va. About 3/4 mile west of Cherry Run on the C. & O. R. R. there is a hill side cut through a very large dome lying to the eastern limit of the dome. The following is the section.

Lowest bed. 1) A series of thin bedded limestones with some shale. Has an abundance of Meristella and Tentaculites due my fault. Passing up- ward into more massive [[illegible]] thick Hybrea of the Trentaforn kind here. Also large Fis- thiphinis. These upper beds become more are naceous and finally become a heavy Aulde grey 50ft. 2) Calcarenos sandstone with some fossils, creating out the fossils in a siliceous state. Onacflorus gone. About 50 feet then dark blue lump chalk. 3) Passing into arenaceous limestones with chert. No macerflorus here but mist Rim. Sselaria aquivalistina as the most charac- teristic fossil. About 85 foot seen, 85'- Nearly all the fossils in the upper half. From last intercept to Ovarallo across a small stream and is a distance of 300 feet The dip of the rocks is about this. I saw no evidence in the farm field at the end.

Typical Ordovician fossils of this section, as stated by Cruse. Saw some large spirifera on the side of D. corn- crenatus but are D. crenatus. Below no.1 it is 180' below to the new coal outcrop where the beds dip about 100 while at the next out- crop they dip about 20 to 25 degrees. This exposes shor about 30 feet of massive gray to blue impure limestone with syngenic vertical joints). In the maculiforma zone the fossils are most common in the lower half. D. maculiforma fails in the upper third where E. crenatus is most abundant. D. crenatus gets through. Left Cherry Run for Washington on the 5:42 C. M. train.

Trip to Litchfield with Becker Sept 10, 1901.

Sep. 2-1901 Left Washington at 11 A.M. in Atlantic City where I stopped over night at the Stafford Store. Had breakfast next day at the Windsor. Sep. 3 - 1901 Started for Philadelphia at 10 AM and put up at the Stanwix Hotel on Arch and 12th. Sep. 4-1901 Started for N.Y. at 9 A.M. and remained there until Sep. 7 - 1901 Went to Albany on the day boat leaving 22nd street at 9 A.M. Called on Art in the morning.

Sep. 8 - 1901 Spent the afternoon and night with Caste at his home outa Chmonds. Sep. 9 - 1901 Met Buckner at 2.45 P.M. and started for Ilion NY. There we arrived at 5 P.M. Stopped at New Orleans. Sep. 10 - 1901 Had a team to take us to Mr. Maxwell's house near Glans, Cornus, and nearly opposite Jerusalem Hill. Spent all day with Buckner for crinoids in the Coymans but found none. Found a few small fossils chiefly Ostracods of the genus Leperditia. Sep. 11 - 1901 Wednesday Abandoned the diggings of yesterday and

Sep. 11 - 1901 Wednesday Abandoned the digging of sections and started a new one in another face of the same quarry, which is diagonally opposite over the road from the house of Maxwells and on the top of the jumbled rocks. By noon we had discovered the criminal bed. Cleared away some rock in the afternoon. Rained several times today. Sep 12th Thursday. Cleaned up the diggings of yesterday and washed the layers and crinoids. Sep 13 Friday. Dug again with a man for a half day in the place of our first experiment. Saw one storm ovisus but nothing more excepting a few Mariacervus stems.

Sep. 14 Saturday. Collected all day along the stone walls and looked over the section. The latter is as follows: The rise of the land is steep from the water-line at the base of which issue springs. Short and deep gullies are in the water-line and usually stop where the manning Pentamerus begins. It is near the top of the water-line that the Eurypterus are found. Above the water-line is a steep slope covering the Pentacodite. Above the forerage about 10 feet is a bed of shaly bedded limestone of the lowest Corgmanus where loose beds maybe called the Illinica beds. The thickness of this lowest Cogmans is about 35 to 45 feet and in layers around in Illini- onia. Other fossils are Chonetes gregaria, a small Platerimus? Dalmanites tail, 2 or more Ornatostrata (type) on Corals species of Rhynchonella and 1 Rhynchospira. Then follows a gentle slope rising for about 30 feet to the road at the base of

Jerusalem Stone. Then a sharp rise to expresses of heavy bedded limestone about 50 feet above the road. These heavy beds tend to abut in segments of a large crinoid, and great quantities of the stems of deepa and other articulations. decorations, also Faroutia seem here (here me) and only Symmetra. Above the last bend there is another sharp rise to the quarry level from which many years ago were taken the Homorcinus rock for stone walls. The Quarry (Wheeler's) high in the cliff, overlooks one of Jerusalem Stiles. The face of the quarry is about 25 feet and the Homorcinus layers are about 5 feet above the lowest part of the quarry. About six inches above the divided crinoth layer is the one with Mariacrinus. Above the latter about from foot in a hard crystalline layer with small black specks, ditto. In another quarry once back on the same line higher beds are shown and at

the way top is a Stromatoporid zone about 30 miles thick almost complete made of these corallines, I should judge the zone to be about 5 to 10 feet deeper than the Stromatoporid quarry. Stephan still comes in the zone with P. foliatus. These higher beds maybe 20 or more feet thick. Sep. 15-th Sun day. Spent the morning at Cayville where we collected in the higher (P. foliatus bed). Fossils rather scarce. In the afternoon collected along the stone walls on the Wheelock farm. Found a Lepadocrinus, Animalogyrites and a fine Tentaclites slab.

Sep. 16 (Monday. Spent the morning in 2 small quarries about one mile east of Shulocks farm. Both are in the upper Heterocrita exposure about 25 to 30 feet. The lower and upper beds of these quarries are they are even bedded while in the center there is a heavy bedded dolomite with gastropods. Most of the O. quarries are Leyardiis occur in the lower beds. T. spicaeantius is very rare here. The Marlum is a may exceed 40 to 50 feet. About 10 to 20 feet of Cogmans are shown in the top of the hill. Have some fossils. In the afternoon walked to a large quarry at Days store about 3/2 mile east of Shulocks farm. The limestone is the same as the little quarry on Jerusalem Hill in which we dug for Ammonites. After looking around a little we began to find indications of crinoids and I did find a fine Maribacrinus. We also found another new crinoid of which I sawed two and Becker at a mine. The

Make twice as short from one mile and address the [illegible] Sep. 17th Tuesday. Rained all morning. In the afternoon looked over the largest Coeymans fields on Wheelocks farm. This one is given the face of the Coeymans a few lots is just above the Martlines if the latter how has the same thick ness as at Johnkain, 40 feet.

Sep 18 Wednesday. Spent the morning examining the various quarries near Odds Corners. I examined the quarries to the right of the dallsburg one while Beecher visited the one about half mile to the left of the same quarry. The entire series of quarries here begin a little below the Homogreene zone and continue to the top of the Coey- mans which is underlain by the Onondaga. In the Dallsburg quarry we again found more crinoids and Beecher disc- covered the crinoid bed. There can be my doubt that a coral colony exists here. He gave the two quarrymen full instructions to preserve are they find and believe they will soon send us a lot. The section following is a composite of the quarries near Odds Corners.

Days Corners Section of Coegmans. Onondaga li, with much chert, the coals all have erinite stems. About 10 ft to top of hill. Conical slope to large quarry. About 25 feet. Heavy bedded dark blue li, partly bedded towards the top. P. galentus leading prind in upper 15 feet. About 30 feet. Grey heavy bedded brittle dolomite, about harder of phills About 7 ft. Thin even bedded greyish slily li. About humer of fossils. About 5 ft. Thin bedded brittle blue li 6 ft. Maraccinus gms 6 inches. More or less heavy bedded li, with thin beds all of a dark blue li. About 20 feet. In the afternoon got some material from the Wheelock quarry and packed up. Left Maxwells house at 4 P M

Creymans [break?] 2 Gray dolomite bed of Days Corners. 4' 3 Thin bedded flaggy li. 3' 4 Cryst.li with Lepeditias 6" 5 Blue brittle li. 1 4" 6 Cryst. li with Lepeditias 8k 72" 7 Thin to heavy bedde 3' 8 blue brittle li. { Mancieenies bed. 6" } 9 6' For beds below this down to Water-line see page Ref. 14th. According to my estimates the Creymans in Litchfield Township is not less than 187 feet thick. It maybe 202 feet if the top-most 15 feet under the Onmdoja are added. Since my estimates are nearly always under the mark it is probable that the thickness

is near 225 feet and may be 250 ft. The lower third of the Coeymans may (30 to 40') be called the Illionia zone, the middle the Grimidal zone (about 100 ft.) and the upper third the Ispidula zone (about 30 feet). Stomatopora occur throughout the Coey- mans but are most abundant in the ispidi- dula zone, less common in the Grimidal zone and rarest in the Illionia zone. Lepadocrinus as stems are very common in the middle zone but good specimens appear to occur only in the Stomatopora bed. In 1904 I noticed that the upper corner edge is probably all transitional zone between Coeymans & New Scotland. Some several Favosites (F. hilduburgensis), many other P. solatus, E. medialis, E. singularis (Orich. form), Orthothete orthotamnus, Vincinulus mutabilis,

1904 Left New Haven Wednesday Sep. 14 for Illim to meet Darle. Left at 12.05 in New York, and at 3.30 for Albany when I stood over night because of train connections. Sep. 15 - 1904 Left Albany at 7 A.M. for Ilion where I remained the balance of the day being sick. Sep. 16 - 1904 Left Ilion at 8.30 A.M. for Days Corners and Mrs. Dallstury quarries where I arrived at 10.30. Staying at Dallstury house. Darle had a place stripped down about 18 feet to the crinoid layer. The span uncovered is nearly 35 x 15 feet. Took off the top layer to get at crinoid bed.

but found the run of crinoids very few and scattering. Not wanting any of this layer as sleds concluded to go down 2 inches to the next layer with large stems and large crinoids. Of this layer concluded to take off a piece about five square. Set. 17 - Saturday With Darle took off the slab and then stripped off all the remainder of this layer because another crinoid layer showed on the lower side. This had long and large columns but no heads were seen until near the close of the day when 3 or 4 from large heads of Mariacrines turned up.

Sep. 18 - Sunday. With Parke strolled over the collecting ground of three years ago, saw nothing particular. Paid particular attention to the Illinois horizon and the Coralline group. The latter lies just beneath the former. Of the Illinois gone our about 5 feet though the same rock with these fossils has a greater thickness. The Coralline horizon is thinner bedded, lighter in color with the fossils much more distinct. The common fossils are the Turrilites, cup corals and Spirifera ericson that can be seen if the Illinois zone is only a few feet in thickness. Then there is a stiff grany clays for about 30 feet to a bench or flat which I take to be the stratoline. Sep. 19. Monday Left with Parkeby for Krien at

Hudson Rim sandstone. Clark has a letter from Bather in which is written the following: Coronocrinus is at one for Sta. dicrocrinus. Cordylocrinus appears to occur in the district. Brachicrinus is part = Harpetocrinus. "Camuocrinus appears to be identical with Lolithus which is the sort of deyphocrinus, in Bohemia occurs in E1 and E2" Aspidocrinus the sort. Pisocrinus is part. identical with Tria- crinus. The both extends to Mid Dev. in Europe. Crecocrius in Dev. in Europe. My Annulocystites just out of this genus dayle says it - . These notes relate to Clark's paper on th Deerotts Crickley.

Diatoms. 1558 Orthocenta heeli. This is just the same species as the I. bipartita. 1552 Hederella. This should be looked into 1576-7 Orthothela here marked Orthodata bipartita. 1557 A small globula Farrisii meets or ident with the coralline of 1557 This is a small slit marked Diatomea and has Pi lamellosa. I. oncidestr. The former in great abundance. The Diatomaceous fossils as here shown are not stratigraphically the separator from the corallines. The latter is not the Ordovician but is clearly the last horizon in the Mid. Lown Permian. The Upper Permian collection is fair and better than the Ord. solely, howerer it is not what it should be to be fair representative collection.

1469. Stylophora lipastita. This is a Leptostrophia non bedi but smaller and without corrugation. 1407 It has a Stylophasma but also the Ord. species or much like a name Helithyllum. 1466 A Spirifer jost identical with the Cumberland modesta. All have indistinct Plicatures This Coralline collection is good and must in yet to be learned in the way of an excellent fauna. The finest known aren't good. There is a Bellinthon here more than 2 inches in diameter. Owenia profunda jost. in the Coralline, It's much like them from the L. P. The Coralline bi is rich in Favosites and Stomothyron.

Brooklyn Institute Coralline species. 1462 "Choneta" from Coralline li. This is my n. of first kind and Pa. It is a Choneta. = C. gigantea D., it in these out medial and emerging others. 1443 Almunaria inaequalis, Luths and like a very large celled Helix, [illegible] but is not of this genus. It may be an Ascovularia but has smaller Corallites and apparently without inter- corallite walls. 1464 Rhynchonella lamiellata in the frame are fit about the intestines. 1463 Orthis intricatida Darr? If this is this specimen it belongs to near to some other. 1460 Atypa nucleolita Dare. This may be maybe larger than me specimen. The command from Dar has a distinct but foliar area, strongly inverted teeth and of very marked areas in the ventral valve. This is the ancestor of Ors. bella.
