Sarasota, Sunday, Jan. 27-1935
Cool again last night, but all day the thermometer is rising slowly. Cloudy day.
Took the 9:30 Bus out to Lido Beach about 3 1/2 miles W. of Sarasota. This is on the Keys to the west facing the Gulf. Passed by a detective Burns minute home. This is the beach richest in animal life I have ever seen.
Treet Periwinkles (up 12" long), Indian shells, Sponges in a half dozen species, Sea-fennecus, Algae-thurians, Date sand dollars, sea-weeds etc.
Got back to Sarasota 11:45 A.M.
As we came out from dinner at the hotel I met Professor Ferris who has a vacation home here. He wanted to take us in his car to show us around Sarasota. First E. to the vegetable farm, may sell (ship) each year 1000 car load of) and strawberries. Then to Sarasota Road about 3 mls W. of city, and then about the city. We then took us to the home where we stayed for supper.
