White Mts, Aug 6- Left New Haven, Monday morning at 9.30 for Bullion Rocks. Did get here 6.55 P.R. time = 7.05-P.M. Put up at the Crawford Hotel 3 1/2 miles E of Bullion Rocks. Tuesday Aug 7-1928 In the morning climbed Mt. Hillard, 2786'. The hotel stands at 1950'. About 1 1/2 miles going to climb about 835' Wednesday Aug 8-1928 In the morning climbed Mt. Cavalon, 3430'. Two miles going to climb about 1600'. Start up in 2 hours and came down in one hour. Trees and herbs are wet and with perspiration drops out outside and inside. Took what had eaten.

Thursday Aug 9-1928 Took life easy in the morning and then developed a slight case of disinterest. Did no climbing today. Friday Aug 10-1928 Took an easy crack up to road to the top of Mt Willard, did it in one hour and down in half this time. Clear weather and could see many miles down to the Sac Valley. Saturday Aug 11-1928 A cloudy day with pensive showers. At nine started out up the Crawford trail for Mt Clinton, steep climbing and other near the top all was mist mist some lightning and thunder. Turned down the mountain and on

was caught in the shower. Left the hotel wet and dirty. It showed until 3 P.M. when the wind blew up cool from the north. A fair evening. Sunday Aug 12-1928 A bright and day. Tracked west on R.R. tracked 2 1/2 miles towards Bretton Woods. Torkin along under the Presidential Range. In the afternoon climbed Mt. Willard again. Third time. Climbed about 1500 feet, from 1900' to 3430' Tuesday Aug 14 - 1928 A bright day but I am Tired and did no climbing, Studied the geology of Dominica Wednesday Aug 15 - 1928 A hot morning. Concluded to climb up to Mt Clinton at +1275' above sea level. Started at 9 A. M. and went on Migpah Shelter. Set to Mt Clinton at 11.15. Started down on the

Granford trail at 11.40 and port to head start at 1.10. Distance harkled about 6 1/2 miles and climbed of 2385 feet. Got back very tired but not exhausted. Took life easy all afternoon and evening. Thursday Aug 16 1928 A bright hot day. Took a fort mile tramp after breakfast and then wrote a synopsis of Dominica. Friday Aug. 17-1928 A bright sultry day, walked over along railway to The Pleasant Hotel (3 1/2 miles) and back again to Hotel Mount Washington. At 11 A.M. started trail at Granford House at 12.10; note 3 miles per hour.

Saturday Aug 18-1928 Did little walking today. Studied astronomy party of the day. Cloudy and damp with mudd terrain, Sunday, Aug 19-1928 Read more astronomy our morning. Then went up. Walked at Mt Billard in 50 min. and down in 25 min. Cloudy with a rey little rain. Getting tired of the place and the overly crowd. Last night the hotel have a most grander by the guests and an interesting chorus it was.

Monday Aug 20 -1928 Walked 3 1/2 miles north towards Bretton Woods to see the President. Rays. Alright even cold morning, Read early Fath's Astronomy. Walked and talked most of the afternoon. Tuesday Aug 21-1928 Torn the back road to Bear Brook Bridge Path and then broke the woods to the Mount Washington golf links, drove by way of the railroad track, in the afternoon read all Smith's reply to Edith White. August 21. Coyle. @ at point 7, around which I could not get around is about 15 1/8 this, and concealed from. Then on a regular trip out and decided to run near (weather red.) hidden ss astreer. Dip 10° SE. The current ss still and nice but the flood poor, our less common, most if no prevail till profiles, have only seen Engl. send in the head first with. Then an air short lines of study SS. First findings of these pillars words stones, at 100' beneath Engls @ ?? Peed by two. Cleared silver mine, at 125' down current difference and general super. Threat reddish SS Reddish smalt SS and shale [23] dip 8°-10° S.E. The green threat redded SS to N. strai about 60° E. and are decided cleam of a root mate a smaller fault a slip zone. The strike to N. dip spa S.E. Quadrant of our mate another flag at the shata make the former. To the N. [N] flaying and be dip is not 30° S.E. but more E. Green and limestone both rocks of SS. Both many hundreds of feet thick. Then N. area meeting at zone dip S.E. stuff. And much disturbed at length. The upper part latter SS is much disturbed and shread about within 1000' to the south. SS & Lt The cliffs near the church are again in normal relation defying south SE, about 10° - 15°. Repulsion? these bedded seam ss, cuts some beds in the bedding plane. Donkeys trot lines there in the high angles. To the right of the church and fishery houses about 1/3 exists in a first flat upward at about 100 feet, with the same SS. Those that bedded seaward- diplufly cut bedded-eyrased surfaces that cut me another as if around Horn said. Rains could not make such, but it must be a combination of round Horn surfaces and delta that flooded fine time to time. On the samples, surfaces would crackled. This is Red Head Point. Looks red in distance, The church is St Sufge.

Cryl. 2 sft to Malbry crag at last. Dip h my lns between 5-10. Stopped here and quit filling in W. tmonrs. It is 10 minutes walking from Malbry crag to the high cliff S.west to crest of engl. (1). = 4/2 miles. Of this distance 200 of my steps is to come off to further thicken of cryl (2) up to Mal. bay root. It is 35 on minuts walking from Mal- bay crag to Point Peter [Band & man] in a straight line in 30 min. to the shore at Point Peter, or about one mile from cryl (1). August 23-6y30 The fault is W of Monk ntr Belle Chase Crag. To the east of fault is irregular Bonaventus At Malbays crag engls (2) make a cliff at mr 75' high and for W about 1000' more. All Malbey area is in this cryl.

August 23 amt. At the end of Malkey Crag is a cave bedded with layers up to 14" of small potter crystal. At nr of shows little cliff and free. At a 2/0 of my steps to next down Eng. These smooths are decidedly cambelbet and rock of them are coarse, with an occasional long shaft for me. Crystal makes the W lead up Mal- ey Crag, but now 10'-12' thick. Finishes at a Richmondian. Crystal persists on arm to W. Then W once of this same cave bedded 55

Aug 23 'ent decided continue fully field areas, that for the rocks is reddish color. About 1/2 mile or less W of E Cluse there is a cowl that may be called and is at least 10' thick. Then- and cutting right through it, ging out to the E. A little in front I can see his morning - considerate our collection - are of the Richmondian. At the point 1/2 mile S.E. Belle Isle there on line horizontally a totally differ white and creating sand. There all the figures are angular small, froctured figs. I seem to be now only going away from and sand is for a piece larger than me. Schroage up to kind of green mat. Do this a local expression of the Bonaventure. This material has beautiful pieces. This cowl or line horizontally and angular out uncon- formably to cowl (4) and as well further W to older reddish weathering sandstone. This is for the time Bona. venture cowl. It's made up a

Aug. 23 cont light cloud sky and distinct step ls and marks of the Barke ls seen, Saw my prints. Now we have the true Boreastum with a trial expression - allist in the tongue as I have taken. The older reddish and tan red dted ss shn only at the points. Then a bay sandy beach at about 1000' W. Further west to the horn to the W of Belle Auzee P. On there are fisher cottages here an three small points and a wooded angle (5) I could date the clmin. Learn to still remounte at least 1000' with the station S E dig g about 15°. The E. point is just E of Belle Auzee Cove. On two of these prints I saw the horizontal Boreastum with g angles of these cyl (7).

August 23 Conti Bell Ouse Cove has the repu- lation embedded SS, probably 700' acres. Then comes Enyl. (6) W of Bell Ouse Cove. Dips 5 into Maltray. Over to Enyl (6) is a few feet of corroded red weather SS. On the irregular surface of the SS or over the Enyl (6) lie the uncon- formable Omarentine. In section the cliff is as follows: Grany Slope Grey Omarentine plenty enyl. 4'-8' thick Enyl. (6) dipping into Maltray. Maltray. The Omarentine is not made up of such stony material as further E. Can always be distinguished by the white sand and gravel clay etc with smaller pebbles that as a rule are faraway congluter.

In section in other way this Am added Cryl. Comparison Cryl. Cryl 6 There's no fault here as they for dry to be. The cryl was jointed on one onto [illegible] sets and on the triangular surface down [illegible] the ones I think it is Bromastone Cryl. (2 1/2 miles) A little further over one sees one of the Bromestones, about 20 high. The sand after so far is the grey mistica sands of [illegible] Cryl. Then there are regular bedded SS with brittle and foulders, or places to have B. is made up of cryl (C) and it is difficult to distinguish but lower, but the grey to white often a change into hard sand Cryl (C), Out not go further like as the other appear to be all if Bromastones.

Corner of Beach Tuesday. Dip of first strata 40° N. 50 E., Interbedded clay and shaly sand ss and small fossil greenish-vein, in the latter about 1/2 half an inch thick over 9 feet little usually under me but once up to 2 1/2". Chief material common angular field-pour crm., & rare. See 2 samples. In recent-gg ss are a stratum of flat material = Phyllite too, of the been. In the engl. containing wood and rare. Saw me log 8" dia. and 12' long, hollow and filled with coal. Oral stones. Other logs nearby. Another log 5" x 10' are coal holding to 10" depth. Jest features all same, & better are of broad but not a character. Saw me Ferrets of Phyllites, one up to 6" long Farther appears to show vertical. & coal I am -90° by Maltry coal stand 75° N.E. to anti-chi ss into a

The small patch clay, 30' deep, 40 Red cretaceous clay at 20 from S.S. 10'.

Aug 28 Red map road side all fine. My first loc on Print Rock is the ls dip 40SE, N30E. Thick cliff cut by SE and S. Thin little neck of Mer. and to th by Orto Cliff. Farther S. to Piece angle at a little Red rock. Craig, dip 80N.E., Strike N50W and so far W or Int. u [illegible] Dev. far too regular bedded to be down-falls. Bx avortine. There is no B. above to fall down. B. horizontal except where underlay topography is simple as on the side of Gumne, where the dip slope is 40o. Bx man has tried just a few years strata, and perhaps most the Dev. is an [illegible] "Down-falls B." has the dip of the base SS out in a Redgy sort of zone, Besides in an archaic SS, which the B. is not.

B: has a greater var. hardness in the cyl., than in the cyl. of sharpness, being however, if Prout Peter series is not far different from B. The B. has a lime oxide cement which is more prone to sharpness, like the latter in that this is due rather to its feldspar and oreality. Often turned as one prominent inside. Dep 120° direct S. pretty very fine crystalline & an orthite Australia have to start of the road, the M's. & two min and half the A. Prominent attempts in hythermia in quite near to M. / Corning Beach. This place is 13/4 miles from home. The country is much crossed by Sakes SS cut for water details. At the E then appears to be a fault and then my data flags a hacky sh at about 15° 20' then, Then there are three bedded ss that have slipped some in the dark feet of below. Over 200 yds. of ss. Lake ss 150 kern R.R.
