15) West of Jeffersonville. Coniferous, 14 inches thick. The clayey rock near base of black shale section is seen farther up the road, 29 ft from face of Clint to Clinton in bed of creek. The red sandy massive layer is a foot or two feet above bed of creek. 12 feet above the creek is larger with large crinoid beads on ledge by sandy rock. This crinoidal layer is 17 feet below the base of Coniferous which corresponds with section 14. I may next from creek up to 39 ft from face of Clint, to bottom of creek. Averaging the two sections it is 33 ft. from face of creek to the base of Clinton. Since the east exposure is nearest the creek, it About 3 feet of Conif. partly exposed. 16) E side of Branch Creek Ed Comar. About 26 feet from base of Clint comes to what seems to be the base of the Clinton. Crinoid fossils exposed. 17) A little over 2 mi. SE of Mt Sterling. Blue clayey limestone, looks like a small lagoon. The cliff fossil. The 2 mile sink is exposed between here and Mt Sterling several times. 16) Continued. Clinton. Massive rock at base less than 5 feet thick. Not measured. 18) East of Slate Creek E of Spencer. Confirms. Massive layer at face 3 ft thick. Unknown = 14 inches 5 ft. full of clams. The lower massive bed is also short. 56 feet from base of Div to base of Clinton. Blue lagoon exposed just west of the Slate Creek Bridge. 19) West of State creek bridge Ed Spencer. The Strophelœna in the massive limestone is large + rather com- mon & defines into Richmond age. The rock below the massive layer for about 6 ft. is consolidated clay and corresponding to the beds bar layer, The 33 feet of fine Warren lens just beneath the equivalent of the nodular layer are nearly un- iform forms, almost entirely clay. The Orbitis layers in the road to West Sterling probably be- ing in its Not. Carbon set. 25) E of Lemonsville. Massive Chert with chert 4ft 9in Clayey thinbed Limestone weathering to clay 5 in. Three beds of limestone together equal - 8 inches. The face of the Richmond is 70 feet farther down the road, Its real thickness is 62 feet; Dip makes it appear thicker. Two specimens of Strophomena planaulma were found near the lower part of this sandy clay, 11 feet below the face of the Richmond and, in the limestone just beneath small good specimens of St. planumula and good Strop. Leptrena c deliculum are seen. The upper part of this thin shiny section beneath contains several species of gastropods, Obirandna, 24 to 23½ ft thick. The limestone section extends beneath and 11 feet lower than the 2½ ft section occurs 94½ trace in large. This is 94½ ft beneath the Chert. Not also reduced = 23½ ft below what was first called the Richmond bed. 1028 ft clayey stuff ruffy near bone No fossils and no calc. 140ft 28 feet clagy lime weathering to rubble upper half with plenty of foo, 2s's & a few Oithni hyprata not large enough for Lyres. 28+8 + 23½ = 59½ feet and no Oithis lyrux, typical & common. A short distance beneath let down far not been seen than limestone beds full of longycom some Oithni hyprata not large & Leptrena c deliculum. 26) East of West branch of Will Creek. Good clay at least 60 feet thick. The many large fossils just beneath at such level but not seen. Fish teeth layers about 3 in. thick as far as seen. Chert conforming about 5½ ft. Binnish layer with traces of speciatum = 2½ ft. Black shale. 27) E side of Blue Bank Creek. 1½ ft from limestone fully Amby. cockia umbonata. Middle & 15 in reddish limestone, massive and overlaid by 1ft cherty lime & ml.

28) At Rose Run Mining Co. Boring in several layers: full large crinoids 4 in. blue clay + 5 in. thin limestone 3 ft. ferns in some Clinton = etc. 1 ft. bluish slate including many layers. 7 1/2 ft. 2 ft shaly clay. 5 ft. thin (1/2-3 in.) layers of lime stone with 4-6 in. layers of clay between. The top layer is in places 8 in. thick. Do this ? up: the Huntfieldella bed? 29) Roran Cr. NW 1 Morris Ferry. Devonian limestone 13 in. of a grey color with some play or matter within on upper surface. Nothing else exposed). On further examining in, this Spindrift layer appears to occur in the lower part of the Black shale + the Clinton ferns is entirely absent. On the N side of the hill, North- ward, a similar rock appears. The lime surface is red, ferny-moss has a bluish-tinted appearance and may have had red tints in it, but this is uncertain. The fact that this then follows an irregular course of cause the first one to be on top. 30) Road to Farmville. Wavy Clinton layer (trending) waves NW 1/2 W, Northward up the hill the exposed shale section exceeds 70 feet. I forgot seen. 31) apparently its layers overlying the wavy Clinton layers. 32) Do wavy Clinton layer is seen here? trend NW 65 W. Thin limestone layers separated by greater thickness of 1-1/2 ft shaly clay etc. Like it did at Rose Run Mine. At least 5 feet seen here. 33) at Mill on Fox Creek Two miles below Farmville. 6 in. greenish clay, with brown under one. 1 1/2 ft clay 1/2 foot hard limestone. 1 ft 4 in clay 8 in. thin limestone 10 in. shelly wavy layers, 1 1/2 ft blue clay; 1 ft. limestone full large crinoids locus, not found here.

East side of Quick's Run. Quick's Run Blacksmith Shop 2 mi. up from Rome. A. 17 ft thin Redded, dark the dark many seams weathering is a sort of dark fine shale. B. Overlying it is more solid limer stone irregularly bedded 14 feet C Over this the limest one is more sandy in appearance = 40 feet to top of exposures. In A + B, small min'd beds and stems are associated with very small narrow stems ---- lay jointed, There is a spring below the level of the road at slope. West of Quick's Run the relation between this rock and The Black Shale may be determined. About 1/2 mi. up river from Rome 24 feet of the massive rock are exposed. At the top it looks successed but does not clearly resemble the Perm- nian. It is overland by the Black shale series in the lower party while are several feet of greenish shiny clay. At angle of hill S W of Carr's Sta. 27. On west side of Road. Black shale, at least 30 feet seen, Sandy limestone 75 ft. measured, lagged whitish clay 100 ft. base not seen.
