Feb. 10. Clear, warmer. Drove in afternoon to Haywards, then thru Dublin Canyon, Walnut Creek, Tunnel Rd., home. A few acacias and almonds blossoming. Mustard only wild flower. Bare branches of fruit trees very red. Fields and hills very green. Great flocks of Robins near junction of road to Livermore & road to Walnut Creek, Robins on ground and very excited, some seen mating. Feb. 11. Two wrens were feeding on the bare tendrils of Victoria under third story windows on Price apartments. Feb. 12. Cloudy. Dr. Gruinell reports 3 Allen Hummers in Strawberry Canyon - one female, apparently established. Feb. 13. Cloudy a.m. Rain p.m. Not cold. Feb. 14. Rain all day - Golden-crowned Knights in garden. Also Ruby-crowned. Feb. 15. Rain. High S.W. wind during night. Many small branches broken from oak trees. Golden-cr. Knights in garden. Titmouse singing. Banded junco on table. Feb. 16. Rain. Feb. 17. Very rainy - Floods in L.A., Sac. river etc., warm. Feb. 18. Partly cloudy - Clear in afternoon. Feb. 19. Rain again - Feb. 20 - Rain - no wind. Sun cloud. Feb. 21 Rained hard all last night, and all day - warm - Feb. 22. Clear most of the day - Rain at night - Black Phoebe flew across toward dairy. Heard hickins & Golden-crowned Knights.
