Jan.25. A white-crowned Sparrow came to table several times - looks white, neck grey, wings brown streaked, bill yellow. (Female quail is minus tail. Jan. 26. Rain - warm. Song sp. and Thrasher singing. Banded Thrasher came to feed as usual at 11 a.m. Male singing in tree above road. A Song Sparrow has a new band. Jan.27. Rain - Young man at Cooper Club meeting reported Bush tits nest building on Jan.23. Jan.28: Clear during the day; rain at night. Jan. 29. Clear, warmer. Took night train ("Padre") to Pomona. Jan.30. Pomona - Arrived at 11:52 a.m. Flora died at 7 p.m. Spent night at Claremont. Weather beautiful. Jan. 31. Cedar Waxwings everywhere. Sunny - warm. Feb.1 - Funeral at 2:30 - Warm. Feb. 2. Morning beautiful. Drove up to ranches near foothills where we picked some oranges to take to Berkeley - Beautiful sunny morning - Afternoon overcast. Drove to Los Angeles. Supper at Bertha's "Padre" at 7:45 p.m. Feb.3. Frost heavy near Gilroy. Fanned on very heavy rain. Region about Elkhurst completely under water. Rain most of the day - not cold. Feb.4. Clear, warmer Feb.5 Rain. Feb.6. Rain - Sunday.
