the bay, one Heermann Gull was noticed following the Key Boat.
On the mud flats were many sandpipers. Sky was pretty cloudy but not cold. No wind and the sea and bay very calm.
Oct. 13. Beautiful clear warm day - cold at night. Found family of six half grown kit-ten's up under brush east of house eating a large furry meadow rodent (rat?)
Oct. 14 - Quite warm - Sent off Bird Lore Report.
Oct. 15 Cool, foggy most of day -
Oct. 16 Cold fog - Hermit Thrush and Robin at dam. Snail came each morning to feed. Blue Jay eats bird seed.
Oct. 17 - Warmer - fair part of the day -
Oct. 18 ..
Oct. 19 .. - Went to Mrs. Schwells & teach children - Many quail, intermediate Sparrows in her canyon. Also Brown Towhees, S.F. Towhees, Anna Hummingbird, Hermit Thrush, Flicker, Sh.Sh. Hawk flew over. Quite hot in middle of day -
Oct. 20 Hot with some east wind. Moths have been very thick for week laying eggs on trees. A few green leaves have come out - Sprained my ankle.
Oct. 21 Still hot - James bought new typewriter to replace the one broken in travel -
Oct. 23 Friday. Drove with James to Stockton leaving Redding at 11 a.m. - Went by way of Concord, Antioch, Brentwood. Returned by Tracy, Livermore,
