Goldfruchies singing - Saw Townsend Warbler. Sept. 25. Foggy and chilly all day in Brattleburg. Drove in afternoon to Valleys and then into marshes by Sears Pt. Cut off- Found following birds: Red-billed Grebes - many - Eared Grebes - a few White Pelicans (50 +/-) Gt. Blue Herons (20-30) Anhogy Green Herons (12+/-) Pintail Ducks -(200-400) Buddy Ducks (20-50) Marsh Hawks (6 +/-) Coots - (100 +/-) Black-billed Plover - many Killdeer - many Sandpipers - flocks from 6 - 50 (malm or less) Curlews - many Western Vilet - very numerous Yellow Legs - (100 +/-) Gulls Black Phoebe (1) Barn Swallow (3) Butcher Bird (1) W. Meadow Lark Brewer Blackbirds (not abundant) Saramah Sparrows (many) 23 Song Sparrow (Sp.? ) Yellow throat heard. Saramah Sparrows scratch for food in dry ground. Have pink legs. Throats looked very white ; sides of heads with tufty bands. Note a high "trip". No phalaropes.
