June 26 W Flycatcher on nest again and male calling near by.
27. Took pictures of Tame Jay on sleeping porch.
30. Drove to Calistoga, Santa Rosa and home. In canyon on road from Calistoga to Healdsburg Western Tanagers were pres- ent. Also Violet-green Swallows, Lazuli Buntings and House Wrens (family).
July 1-15. One or two foggy days but in general foggy at night, sunny during day. Many humming birds, most of them Anna's, about the garden. Bluejays feeding full grown young. Tame Jay appears occasionally but is promptly driven off. Grosbeaks (some attending yq.), W.Virios, Pileated Warblers (call note), W.Flycatcher (nesting under porch), Titmouse (at times), Song Sparrow, Purple Finch, both Towhees Zigors Wren, Bushtits and Wrentits (singing) and many Russet-backed Thrushes often heard or seen. A Western Robin came into garden on July 14- others heard near house occasionally. Young Finches about in the trees. Lazuli Buntings heard from across the canyon in occasional song up to about July 15.
July 17. Young W.Flycatchers in nest under porch being fed. Heads show above edge of nest. Fog at night.
July 18. Kingfisher flew over canyon E.of house. Sunny day
July 23. Thrushes near house
July 24 Left Berkeley for Gold Lake in the Sierras. Drove to Sacramento where we spent night. W.Flycatchers under porch about ready to fly,
July 25. Drove to Roseville for breakfast, Nevada City for lunch, had supper by roadside between Downieville and Sierra City, spent night at Sierra City- Hot day. Fair roads except between Downieville & Sierra City.
