1928 June 10. Cool, windy, cloudy day - Snow in Ecoras. June 12. House Wrens and W. Flycatchers still feeding their young in nest. I never hear the young flycatchers call. Adulterate Hensley's busy about their nest below the Terrace. Have seen no quail on the table for a week - brooding? Fog at night - Warm day. June 13. Found the young House Wrens in the Japanese Aconites below the wall at 8:30 a.m. One had met with an accident and was lying in the path near the box, the skin of the back broken away but the flesh not eaten. Many Argentine ants covered it. The tame Jay came for bread which it buried. After a few moments a wild jay drove it away. Daw young Purple Finches, Grosbeaks and Vigos Wrens today. The Willow Woodpeckers abandoned the oak stub they were excavating on Apr. 8. Thorne Warbler still singing at end of Mosswood Rd - Sounds like: Peachy, peachy, peachy, cherry, cherry. Titmouses (2) come every day for muskmelon-seeds. No young with them. June 15. Young Western Flycatchers were in oak tree near nest early in morning (8:30 a.m.) House Wrens across road. 16. Flycatchers near house still - Sunny, fresh breeze. 17. Warm- 18. Sunny - fresh breeze. 19. Fog - chilly; 20. Lois came. 22. Drove to Boulder Creek. Tanagers in Johnsonplace. Many Black- Violets Gray Warblers.
