June 4,5 Cooler - fog at night. Tame jay comes once or twice a day - never calls. If another jay calls he immediately darts off. Ate from my hand. June 6. Hot but with a W. breeze. House Wren and W. Flycatchers busily feeding. Lutescent warblers have a nest on the N. face of wall below the clothes line. Dedicate the following numbers of birds feeding on worms etc. in our garden this summer so far: Titmouse 9-10. 2 parents + brood. Bush tits 24 , 6 " +3 broods. House Wrens 8 , 1 " + 1 brood. Lutescent Warblers 8, 6 " + 3 " Song Sp. Toms etc 24+ Total 84+ The oaks are very clean now though early in April they leaves were being eaten very rapidly. Droppings from the worms covered the walls etc. But the abundant migratory and resident bird have made it unnecessary to spray this season. June 8. The house wren fed her young 4 times in five minutes - was not true Very warm June 9. " " " " " 8 " " 12 ". Then the young were absolutely quiet 18 min when one began to call. Two minutes later the mother began feeding at short intervals again - 3 times in 5 min. Seemingly feeds the whole brood in as short a time as possible then rests till they are hungry again - about 20 mins
