Red-winged Blackbird, Meadow Lark (very few), Brewer's Blackbird, Allen Hummingbird, Vaux Swift (20+) up Lagunitas Creek, soaring high. Horned Lark (near Richmond) Flicker, Western Flycatcher, Brown & Spotted Towhee, Marin Song Sparrow, Sannells Song Sp. (March), Bronson Golden-crowned Sparrow, Lazuline Bunting (near Phoenix Lake), Green-backed Goldfinch, Nuttall Sparrow, Barn Swallow and Cliff Swallow (gathering muds for nests at San Rafael Baths), Violet-green Swallow up Lagunitas Creek, Warbling Vireo, Hutton's Vireo, Yellow Warbler, Paleolates, Lutescent and Black-throated Gray Warblers (several on south facing sals covered slope just below Phoenix Lake, all in song). House Wren, Buscktit (1), Chickadee (1). 42 sp. {Scotin & G-c Sparrow 2 winter residents Apr. 19. Cooler. Partly Cloudy. Allen Hummers flew about 119 m. Mother fed them about 10:30 Apr. 20. 'drove' near Playwards. Drove to Boulder Creek, leaving Berkeley at 119 m. Lunched near ranch N of Millpitas where I saw an Oriole. Reached Boulder Creek about 3:30 and spent rest of afternoon burning brush on lot. Apr. 21. The night was quite cold. Warm and delightful during the day. Yesterday p.m. and this a.m. found: Dusil, Crests Jay, Willow Woodpicker, Black Phoebe, W. Flycatcher, Allen Hummingbird, Sides Flycatcher, Purple Finch, Linnet, Green-backed Goldfinch, Clapping Sparrow, Junco, Pine Siskin, Spotted & Brown Towhee, Song Sparrow. Cliff Swallows Black-headed Grosbeak, Warbling, Hutton & Cassin Vireo, Black-throated Gray Warbler, Yellow, Paleolates Warbler, Lutescent Warbler, Buscktit, Chickadee, Robin (3) W. Bluebird, 30 Oriole at Glenwood. Redwinged & Brewer's Blackbirds, Red-tailed Hawks on way. Lunch near Alma - House Wrens.
