Oct. 3. Heard Knight in Faculty Glade. Mrs Golden-crowned Sparrows singing in morning near our house. Mrs. Bugle reported several Red-breasted Sapsuckers near Rose & Inchick, also a thrush (sp.? ) and Audubon Warbler. She said she had seen Aud. Warblers near her house for a week. Oct. 6. Mrs Burroughs reported Hermit Thrush - Oct. 7. Still sunny - days shorter - north winds threaten but do not blow - only clear the atmosphere. A Hermit Thrush was calling repeatedly early this morning. Have not seen a Fox Sparrow but have heard calls which I feel sure are his. Golden-crowned and Intermediate Sparrows singing near house. Large flocks of bush-tits. Few birds come to table for food - about air quail, Song Sparrow and Brown Tanager. An occasional Jay or Titmouse. Oct. 9. 22 quail came to feed. Oct. 15. Finished copy for 1927 Condor Index. Oct. 16. Finished Bird Love report Oct. 16 - Cloudy Oct. 18. Heard Fox Sparrow unmistakably - but have seen none. Mrs. Blake reported they had been present in her garden for two weeks Weather continues fair - warm sunny days. Occasional foggy nights -
