Sept. 24 - Went to Baumberg with Mrs. Saunders. Many Killdeer, Yellow Legs both Greater and Lesser, and Wilson Snipe which we saw very near. Several flushed from a roadside pool which was almost choked with vegetation, circled about with zig.zag flight and droppeded a little further on. Finally found one motionless and erect - wonderfully protected in color. When flushed they utered a scraping "screep". We must have seen 8-10. Full list: Gulls, a few- Pintail - 200+ Killdeer - 40+ Yellow Legs - 30+ Sandpipers - a few flocks and single birds on edge of salt ponds 8+ Wilson Snipe 1 N. Phalarope. 2 Black Phoebes 1 Say Phoebe 3 Sparrow Hawks 1 Marsh Hawk 2 Gt. Blue Herons 4 Butcher Birds. Also Brown & Red w. Blackbirds, Meadowlarks Linnets. Bryant & Song Spar row, 1 Yellow Throat,
