Transcription
May 29. Drove from Marysville to Sacramento where we had lunch,
via Davis, Vacaville;
then on across Carquinez bridge to Berkeley. Many cars from
Sacramento down, esp near the new bridge - windy - stopped
from 10-10:35 a.m. at Whittard to have tire repaired - Saw Thrush,
Brewer Blackbirds, Oriole, Grosbeak, Linnet, Eng. Sparrows (sits in tree,
4 male Willow Goldfinches (together on ground), Yellow Warblers and
Airl. Kingbirds.
May 30 Berkeley. House Wren sang near house most of morning.
A family of bushtits (about 10), fed in oak near house all day,
young giving calls of nestlings. Grosbeak sang in p.m. near
house - most varied song.
May 31. Early fog - warm in middle of day. Titmouse family nearhouse-
Parents took muskmelon seeds from table so must have been same
family that nested in box. At least four young, perhaps more - escaped
Bluejay. Heard Olive-sided Flycatcher in distance and Tanagers
near by.
June 1 - Fog and sunshine - Titmouses, bushtits and Lutescent Warblers with
young in garden.
