June 2. Turned in Chevrolet Touring Car and bought Sedan.
June 3. Drove to Boulder Creek in afternoon. 11 Bushtits came to pool together-
June 4, 5. Spent at Johnson Cottage. Cassie Varios feeding young out of
nest. Olive-sided Flycatchers - a pair - in Redwoods on our lot - also
Grosbeaks and Thrushes - Drove home Sunday afternoon (James).

June 6. Family of Bushtits and Sulincant Warblers still about - young being fed.
House Worm getting discouraged? Brown Towhee evidently sitting-absquat!
June 10 - Trouble with shoulder became acute.
June 20. Operation to remove marble from my right shoulder.
June 25. Came home from hospital.
June 30 - Drove down to BoulderCreek and stayed till July 5 - Spent
much time in steamer chair in sunshine. Thrushes in
full song - Family of Olive-sided Flycatchers and one of Gros-
breaks on our river bank. Birds very abundant. Tanagers
heard nearly every day. Returned to Berkeley July 5.
July 9. Walked down to Dr.'s office. Heard Tanager near Thorsen
house on Bancroft way just above Putnamt. On way
home heard it again in same place and watched it for
twenty minutes - A female, spent most of the time in
the maple trees or on the vines above the trees, occasionally
darted out to catch an insect among the branches - Flur across
the street into a small magnolia - Caled very often. Could
not stand longer to watch got lost. The first time I have ever
seen a Tanager in Berkeley in July.
