minutely roughened, not pubescent. Very young green branchlets just beginning about in long, but erulent. Lvs X in overall seem evergreen, coriaceous, spine-tipped, edges entire strongly revolute, white-glanceous beneath. Spines 3-parted, 2-3mm all this suggests B. stenophylla Mast B.MJ C.P. 288 but indifferent. Fl rich dark (not quite orange) yellow 1/4 in diam., solitary on slender peduncles 1 cm long. Peduncles issue from bid many scales (pos some of these scales are really bracts at very base of peduncle) and sometimes 1 or more bracts on ped-uncle [5-13-34 Same shrub. Val-Mont farm. Cult. (Note underlinings in B.MJ C.P. refer to shrub at H.H.) Standard is curled back around at sides but claw short and all claw hidden by calyx (about 7 mm long). Pedicels articulated near top, the pt. of articulation marked with ring of hairs (20x) and a minute spine-like bract. Abt this pt. pedicel pts, bears 2 similar bracts. Lfts to 1/6 in.
