dimension, the more or less heart-shaped base with
one lobe very much broader than the other (see 5-30-31)
4-28-31 Acer planatoides L. (see 4-24-31) Ulion. Tree in
fl but only fringed with very young lo. et. Note: 4 red red.
scales (to 1/4 in long) form conspicuous cross (later revolute)
under the new twigs. These scales with fine, appressed
ed, rusty hairs on outside, glabrous inside. Petioles ?
young lo. glabrous but more or less covered with small
waxy globules. Sap (when particle broken) milky.
