parts of st. with much whitish maceration where skin has broken longitudinally. Fls in 2's. Many last season's peduncles remaining. Fl 32mm long. Peduncles usually as long or longer than extending lf (a.t.s.). Stamens all with filaments enlarged at topo. Ovary (a.t.s.) shows no sign of articulation. To lft (a.t.s.) more than 1/2 in long. Mid-vein beneath often reddish 4-25-31/ Potentilla verna L. Cote II 25, Ron 99 BVH 149. Fls above along R.R. bet. Val-Morin & Glene. Ident. largely by eliminating other possibilities. A prominent (changing our banks) to lf long, naked (or reddish) below & with a few remains of old petiole (2-3 in long). This seasons growth consists of terminal (prob. later lateral) stuff & several short sts. Some of these (a.t.s.) my short very with 5-folate lvs. Others to 2 in, with st. lvs (or bracts) 3-foliote, branching vs cymae as ill Cote but fls (now mostly in bud) seem slightly more numerous. Most of these flowers are older than (=equal to) the dead lvs from same point but a few elongated. Fls 12-15mm diam. Bracts narrower than sepals but fully as long. Largest old lfs 18mm long, but this season's lfs not more than 1/2 as large. One spec. last stuff (last seasons lvs) in fl on lower part of st. Pedicels very slender but not "recourbes" and carpels not "ricoles - rugueux" as due for P. opaca Roth (Cote). All parts covered with spreading hairs. (See 5-30-31
