4-25-31 Corylus Avellana L. Cote III 359, Box 287 BVH 420, BMQC.P 230 also A 333 for good desc. | game of fl. Cathinar ? just dropping | lvs. beginning to appear. Cathina slender, several together, pendulous. Scales golden brown, pubescent, much thinner than in Alnus 5-9-31. Each scale with "2 small lobes or ad- hesent scales inside" & stamens inserted on scale itself" (BVH). No evidence of cuticles filaments "forked" (BVH) except that one of the short filaments sometimes seems to bear 2 of the one celled anthers. All Cote very exact. (See 5-9-31 4-25-31 Bergenia ligulata Engl. BMQ.C.P. 926 Fl. Cult by Anna Droge Alion. On the rd if cv. the ciliation almost spiny to torde, & nothing that could def. be called "gland-bearing jots." Petals 15mm long, perhaps not quite orbicular. 5-1-31 Cult "Tovaux" Alion. Young thiry serrate, not at all ciliate. If both sides with very small ? pimplish effects visible only 20X. Fl not collected but beened the same as plant commonly cult hereabouts. 4-25-31 Arabis alpina L. Cote I 98, Box 26, BVH 31 (ell. pos.) BMQ.C.P. 367 Flv murispf fl. Alion Val-Montgrauds. Cult: Ident mostly by Cote. 4-25-31 ?? Digitalis lutes L. Cote III 36, Box 388 Last season stalks with dead lvs & empty capsules.
