Cathina slender, several together, pendulous. Scales golden brown, pubescent, much thinner than in Alnus 5-9-31. Each scale with "2 small lobes or ad- hesent scales inside" & stamens inserted on scale itself" (BVH). No evidence of cuticles filaments "forked" (BVH) except that one of the short filaments sometimes seems to bear 2 of the one celled anthers. All Cote very exact. Petals 15mm long, perhaps not quite orbicular. 5-1-31 Cult "Tovaux" Alion. Young thiry serrate, not at all ciliate. If both sides with very small ? pimplish effects visible only 20X.
