except at very base of petal which is hea-
ily bearded on edge with white hairs which
completely fill up the space. Stamen column (20x)
very lightly starry pubescent. Carpels 10
(in 2 cases counted), glabrous. Fl abt 3cm
diam; petals bright reddish purple with
darker veins. This might be considered
M. silvestris L. Cote I 236, Bon 58, BVH 90, 4568
BMJCP 484 except that none of these manuals
mention the bearded claws. See SVK A 246 which
gives Malvas not mentioned in Cote or Bon
