Note foll inside vabor annures of corolla 4-17-31 Valerianella carinata Lois Coste #267, Bon 146 Fl. blion (Tovaux). Fz too young to show characters but fl exactly like ill V. olitoria Poll Coste #267 Bon 146=V. locusta Beteke #762, BVH 237 but note distinction BMJ C.P bet. V. locusta Beteke and V. locusta var olitoria L. No roette flael lvs. Numerous branches from top of root, all branching again several times in 2" to height of 9in. Stk. pale, crisp, hollow. 3mm diam. usually 6 lfs with short, downward pointing/not appressed hairs on L's, otherwise glabrous. Lvs to 2 x 3/8in (upper ones smaller), entire or with occassional staccute teeth, blunt at tip, almost equally broad from tip to base, glabrous except for short hairs amid rib beneath v on edges. Flovery pale blue, 1.5-3mm diam. Floral bracts 1 oz 1+mm wide, def. ciliate edges. Fz (very young) 2.5mm long x 1.1mm wide, has furrow on face, no thiekeness at back, sticle cell completely di- vided v (together) as large as ferbale cell. This points to V. carinata Lois. Fz v cross section very like ill Coste & BVH. (see 5-18-31 Fz. Tovaux exactly like ill Coste. V. carinata: 2 1/2 x 1/2 mm. Sleghtly pubescent.
