- April 22 -
We put up the grouse today.
They had nothing in their crops
but the ends of the spruce leaves.
Their flesh is about the same
color as quail but is a little
coarser and perhaps a little drier.
Mr. Stephens shot a Canada
goose today that weighed 11 lbs.
It was clear and warm today
52° at 2 o'clock. Mr. Littlejohn shot
a greater Scaup duck this evening.
- April 23 -
I caught 3 mice today and shot
a raven on the way back to camp.
Mr. Littlejohn also shot a raven and
got a goose that weighed 11½ lbs.
The dog got into the tent last night
and wiped 2 grouse that we had just
put up. He tore mine all to pieces
and went and buried the other
one. I got a g red-breasted Scaup Muttlate this morning so I have been pretty
busy putting up stuff. It got up
to 60° today.
